I want to complain

About my HOA. They're getting ridiculous. They have board meetings once a month (DH is on the board). He said they kept trying to pass new stupid rules & crack down on the existing ones.

We (by we, i mean everyone) can no longer have anything including decorations, chairs & plants on our front porch. The rules currently state that we can plant in the flower beds in the front & back of our house. No more. Who is getting offended by someone planting flowers? I don't see the big deal. 

They also had complaints about my dogs that were just untrue. They said there were reports that I've been seen walking my dogs without a pooper scooper. I always carry plastic bags in my pocket. Every.single.time.   The rules say the dogs are supposed to go to the bathroom in the woods. I trained my dogs to go there. Now they have to go on the stones underneath our back deck. My dogs don't even like to stand on the stones. I don't think I'll be able to get them to do their business there. Why can't they use the woods? Nobody goes back there. Ever.

DH kept voting down all these proposed changes, but he was the only one out of 5. 

Yet, the lights on the walkway at two of the buildings near us haven't worked for at least 6 months. Why can't they focus on something more important like people's safety. There are a few steps involved. There's also a man who uses a walker in that building. That's dangerous! I'd be BS if the lights didn't work at my building while I'm trying to lug the baby & all his stuff inside at night.

HOA's suck. My experience with our condo board (in MA) and the HOA on the houses down here make me think they all focus on stupid shit.

I hate HOAs with a passion.  If you want to know my honest opinion, I think if we respect property rights in this country (and that's supposed to be one of our proudest cultural heritages) then it needs to be illegal for private individuals or companies to tell another private individual or company what they can cosmetically do to their own property.  I bought it, I should be able to paint is purple if I want.

HOAs are the suck and useless. Just let's nibby nosey people have an outlet for their crazy.

H is the president of our HOA. It's pretty laid back over all but those meetings are painful, all everyone does is bitch and moan. We had one neighbor try and SUE the association because we asked people to pay their $25 annual dues. What an ass.
