What are everyone's plans? I know it's only Weds but the weekend is getting me through this week!
I am flying to VA beach Saturday morning to Tuesday night to visit a good friend who lives there (whom I actually met via the knot). Our plans include sitting on the beach, going out to dinner, going to the spa, and shopping. I am so excited to have a chill weekend, I have been super stressed and this is coming at the perfect time.
scm1011 that book reading sounds fantastic! I loved the kite runner. Hmm now I am wondering if I could fit that in since my flight is Saturday morning.
I am sooo ready for the long weekend. We're finally planting our vegetable garden! Otherwise no concrete plans. I want to get some work done around the house and prune some of our shrubs. And sleep.
I loved The Kite Runner. What are the deets on the reading, scm1011?
I kind of forgot that this weekend is Memorial Day weekend already. I don't know where my mind has been lately. We're headed up to the Toronto area for a family reunion (DH's side) on Saturday and are going to make a little anniversary trip out of it. As the ladies at dim sum know, I nearly forgot our anniversary is on the 29th--eight years! I can't believe how the time has flown. We're going to hit a few sites, including Niagara Falls which DH has never been to.
Saturday is DH's birthday, but he'll be working that day so we are going to celebrate on Sunday.
Saturday - I need to pick up a few things to give him in addition to the concert tickets I've already bought. Also going to get a Carvel cake, yummm!
Sunday - We might finally go see the Star Trek movie, although I'd rather see the Hangover 3, we'll see how that turns out. Then we have reservations Sunday night at Mooo.

Saturday - I have an open house in the morning for a property I just listed. Then that evening we are having a few friends over for drinks and bbq'ing.
Sunday - Doing some work in the yard, my dad is bringing over some plants from his garden since his is getting out of control and we have nothing.
Monday - Doing a lot of nothing hopefully. I need to get a bunch of continuing education stuff done for my CPA license so I'll probably try and work on that this weekend, outside, with a cocktail or beer in hand.

My in-laws are coming to visit this weekend - which is GREAT news because they are awesome. FIL and H are going to work on some house projects - fixing the gutters, fixing some trim, working on the yard, etc. My MIL and I will probably get mani-pedis and drink champagne - living the dream!
It is also WATERFIRE this Saturday in Providence. If anyone is at all ever interested in seeing this and coming down to PVD, let me know. For those that don't know what it is, they have these basins all through the two rivers in the downtown area and they fill them with wood and light them on fire - hence, waterfire. It is really, truly amazing and such a fun event. There are tons of people out, they play music, you can buy beer on the street and walk around, etc.
I am very excited because we are taking my in-laws on a gondola ride down the river during waterfire. It is truly magical. Check it out - www.waterfire.org for the schedule for the year.
Waterfire is great and I didn't know you could do a gondola ride while it was happening! Maybe we'll go back and do that one year.
It's kind of pricey but totally worth it, IMO. It is $159 for a 20 minute ride for two people and then $15 for each additional person (up to 6, I think, can ride). Then I think there is sales tax. In any case it is $202 for the four of us.
But they encourage you to bring champagne or wine and provide ice, glasses, etc. Here is the website:
You do kind of have to book early to get a good time. I just booked my trip last week and I had to get 11 pm. But the fires burn until midnight, that is just late for me.
If you come, I can make recommendations for dinner, too.
We rented a house in Wellfleet from Saturday through Tuesday. They just changed the forecast and it looks cold and rainy, which is a bummer, but it will still be nice to get away!

I JUST saw that! Boo. I thought they were saying high 60s and sunny and now it's cold and rainy.

Have a great trip, Preppy! And Rock, happy anniversary to you and Mr. Rock!
SCM, let me know how the reading is - I thought about going when you first mentioned it to me, then totally forgot about it until just now. I'm excited for the book, though I hope it doesn't make me cry as much as his last one did.
This is my last free weekend before the summer hell starts, so I have no actual plans, but there's some stuff I'd like to do before I'm tied up for the next two months. I'm hoping they let us out early tomorrow -they always wait until the last damn minute to call it. I think I'm going to try to make a Frugal Fannies run on Saturday, and we may go to the movies (I still kind of want to see Gatsby, H still hasn't seen Iron Man) one day. Originally, I thought Before Midnight would be playing here this weekend and had planned one of our weekend days around that. But it won't be here until June 7th, so now I have to figure out when I can sneak it in. (Boo to you, limited indie releases! Boo. to. you.)
Well, I *was* going camping at Acadia National Park, but we bailed due to the weather. No one seemed interested in tent camping in the pouring rain for 3 days for some reason... We've been going to past several years and go kayaking, biking, hiking, etc. Not fun in the rain. I now have a 4 day weekend and no plans. boo!
I just got an email from the library that it's waiting for me to pick up. Guess I'd better hurry up and finish Me Before You soon. Good thing it's going to be cruddy this weekend.
Oh, and I forgot one other thing - new Arrested Development this weekend, YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!! H and I can't decide if we want to burn through them, or watch slowly and savor. I suspect we'll end up burning through all of them this weekend, and then re-watching them a trillion times over the next few weeks, heh.

That sucks Lilac. I love Acadia! I hope you enjoy your weekend at home instead.
Change in plans! We'll hang around the house today and Saturday, but Sunday (when the weather clears up!!) we're heading to Cape Cod to go camping overnight. We'll be able to go kayaking and biking there. Not a bad alternative
