I'd love some MMM opinions on possible names for our daughter. The tricky part is our last name, which begins with a vowel. So many girls names end in vowels (or open-mouth vowel sounds), and I strongly dislike the sound of two vowels being strung together between the first and last name - too breathy and awkward-sounding, in my opinion.
Here are a few favorite possibilities so far:
Alice Annabelle / Annabel Charlotte Hazel Lucy Penelope Violet
Our last name begins with an "O" and is two syllables (sounds similar to "awesome" - LOL). Her middle name will most likely be Jane (my mom's middle name), although this isn't definite.
I love Annabel and Penelope both so much. I like all the others on your list a lot, too, especially Charlotte and Lucy. Annabel would be my first choice.
Well Lucy is going to be DD2's name so I'm all about that one, obviously.
I also love Violet, Hazel, and Charlotte from that list.
I am super anti-nickname (just a personal preference) which would rule out Penelope for me, but otherwise I do like the name a lot. Just be prepared for her to be called Penny.
Hazel is NMS. I dont feel like it fits for a little girl.
I used to think the same thing about Hazel. Then my cousin and his wife named their daughter Hazel and it fits her perfectly. I no longer think of it as an "old lady" name.
Incidentally, this same couple also has a daughter named Violet.
We have similar taste and all your choices seem nice. My favorite from your list is Hazel. For some reason I always see violent vs Violet so that ruled it out to me. How about Caroline, Carolyn, Marilyn, Juliet, Genevieve?

Not a huge fan of annabelle or Penelope. Annabelle is too close to Isabelle which is super popular. Not sure, but Penelope just doesn't do it for me. What about Caroline/Carolina, Georgia or Clara?
