I'm cleaning out my office desk and trying to get rid of things that I don't need.
I have a box of notes/cards/dried flowers (just a few flowers - not bouquets full) from my husband that I refuse to part with even though he says it's silly. It's just one shoe box full.
I also have a box of things from my sister (drawings that I have saved since she was three or four, some of her school work, and tons of pictures). The funniest thing I have saved from her is when I taught her how to play MASH and for her husbands she put Justin Bieber, and all of the Jonas Brothers (this was several years ago and she's significantly younger than me). I plan on using this as blackmail later in life.
I know I will want all of these things later in life, right? What sorts of things do you save?

Me too. I have a big plastic box in the garage full of notes from high school, old school projects, and random things from childhood. I rationalize it by fitting it all in that one box - as long as it's just that box, it's not necessarily hoarding. LOL.

A few shoe boxes does not a hoarder make. I have huge bins full, unfortunately. I keep one in my office, and throw in some of the school projects, all sweet cards, etc. When it's full, it goes in the attic, and I start another one.
At least I'm scanning in all the bins of photos I have, and throwing away the prints, right?

I am the opposite, I throw things away right and left and then years later wish I had saved stuff from ___ time in my life. At the time, I guess nothing felt important enough to save. I do have the boys' hospital bracelets and footprints in their baby books, and I have a memory box for my daughter with a few things in it.
Luckily, my bff is a sentimental hoarder. I love going to her house and reading through a shoebox full of all of our notes to each other in 7th grade, folded in that fancy way that I couldn't duplicate now if I tried!

I am definitely a sentimental hoarder. My love for records like these is one of the reasons I went into archiving as a profession. I used to adore going through my parents and grandparents old stuff.
Now - thanks to my schoolin' - I have all of my sentimental things categorized and organized neatly in their appropriate place.

You can scan in the sentimental stuff too. My mom has a box of my old things and one year for christmas she scanned in some of her favorite drawings that I did and made them into iron-ons. She made me a quilt made up of my old drawings. Technically it takes up more space than the drawings though - so maybe this isn't the best idea. ha.
