I have a pair of Reebok RealFlex shoes that I wear everytime I use my elliptical. I work out about 5-6 times a week for 30-45 minutes. I have had them about 5 months and have lost 31 lbs (eep!!) in these shoes. They still look great, but do they break down if my feet are never really hitting the ground or even coming up off the elliptical?
I have pretty horrible bunions that have been bothering me after about 20 minutes into each workout. Just wondering if the shoes might be the cause.
I don't know for sure but I'd guess they would break down more slowly on the elliptical vs. running so you are 'probably' still okay. My rule of thumb when to get new shoes is when my joints (hips, knees, ankles) start aching. I would think your bunions hurting would be more of a result of the wrong kind of shoe for your foot than wear.
