I developed some blisters on Sunday. One on the side of my big toe and one on the bottom of my little toe. Both were those nasty blister under callus situations. This part is contraversial, but whatever, I popped the big toe one. It is all better now. I did not pop the little toe one right away because I couldn't figure out how to. I could feel the blister, but I couldn't see it. It kept hurting and whatnot. Finally, it popped last night. The callus completely opened, like there is a deep 1/4" long crack down the bottom of my little toe where it popped. Just thinking about it. It hurts to wear shoes or to even just put my foot on the ground. Obviously my gait will be altered if I try to run with it. Is there anything I can do to make it get better/less painful faster? Also, please tell me that it isn't likely that I will get a staph infection and lose my whole foot. Gaping wound on the sole of a foot just seems like a bad thing.

I used triple antibiotic when I get blisters that pop. It lubricates it like Vasaline to make it a little more comfortable and makes me feel better about bacteria getting in there.
Yeah, I will get some neosporin or similar on my way home today. This is irrationally irritating to me. Running was going so well for me lately. I felt good. I have been getting in a decent number of miles. I'm scared that I'm going to put myself in a position where I'm out for a week or two because of mega blisters.
Try to make sure all the fluid is out, Soak it in peroxide, make sure all the fluid is out again, add an antibiotic ointment, an blister bandaid it up! GL.

Something similar happened to me a while ago. It was painful just to walk. And then it got infected. It was bad. Someone suggested soaking my foot in Epsom salt 2-3 times a day for 20 minutes. I was dubious it would do anything, but it totally worked. I also put Neosporin on it and covered it in bandages. The pain was gone in 24 hours. The whole thing took about a week to heal.
I just did the MrsE method. I can't believe how many additional minor blisters I noticed when I really examined my feet closely. There are at least four smaller ones. I may need to rethink my shoes. They were fine all winter, but they may not work out with the uber sweaty feet of summer.
Wines Not Whines - I will definitely put Epsom salt on my grocery list. This is the second time in the last few weeks that I have wanted it for something.
