Holy smokes, the house across the street from ours went on the market today. Basically the same layout, same number of BR, same lot size. We have an additional 1/2 bath and about 200sq more space. The interior of theirs is insanely outdated. Like - way more grandma-like than my grandma's house. We've updated bathrooms, living room, torn out old carpet and refinished our pretty oak floors, painted and modernized most rooms besides a family room and the kitchen. Theirs is wood paneled (so much wood paneling), dark, covered in dirty old carpet and their kitchen is even older than ours. Seriously every room is a gut and reno project.
List price is $45K above our purchase price exactly 1 year ago. For seriously, if it sells for anything close to asking price, that is G.O.O.D for our home value!! That would be crazy exciting as we are thinking about an equity loan to do our kitchen, master bath and earthquake retrofitting.
The same thing happened here last week! The house is listed for $50K over what we paid. They do have a pool, but they're on a smaller lot. I'm going crazy waiting for them to post interior pictures or have an open house. I'm crossing in fingers and toes that it goes for asking. Hello, refi!
