Our refrigerator, which has been getting increasingly noisy lately, is officially dead. Fabulous. I noticed it getting louder about a month ago. Then, several food items nowhere near their expiration date went bad a day or two after getting them this week. Tonight, we watched as the digital temp on the fridge climbed to 57 degrees, while the freezer plummeted to -12. Just. Freaking. Wonderful. So DH and I spent our evening taking all of our food from our fridge/freezer and running it to my in laws' house.
Luckily for us, my in-laws just redid their kitchen last week and replaced their perfectly working black appliances with stainless ones. Their perfectly working fridge has been chilling in their garage until they could find a buyer. We are getting their fridge until we have enough cash to get a new one without needing to pull from savings or put it on a credit card to do so. Their old fridge won't look bad in our kitchen, either, because we have appliances that have both black and stainless on them. It is the right width, but a bit too deep so it'll stick out from the cabinets, but it'll do as a temporary fix.
Yeah, we got my in-laws fridge today and had to do some major cleaning. It was out in their garage while construction was going on. Sawdust was EVERYWHERE! It is certainly not going to be a permanent fixture in the home because it isn't exactly the fridge I'd choose, but it'll do until we can get a new one. We were pretty lucky!
