There's a thread on CE&P called "50 Things Only '80s Kids Can Understand, and I'm guessing many of us here on the Book Club board fondly remember those Scholastic book order forms. I used to love getting them!
I mean, Amazon is great and all, but it doesn't bring the excitement of reading into the classroom in quite the same way.
I loved those. I wanted ALL THE BOOKS. My mom would have to tell me to slow my roll. I'm sure it was nice that I wanted to read but at the same time, money doesn't grow on trees.

Same here. I remember devouring the catalog and circling pretty much every book.

I loved those catalogs. Most of my favorite series from elementary school came from those. Although one of the schools I attended had a huge library that beat out the catalog. wah wah.
I'm pretty sure I was limited to 2-3 books per book form and 3-4 per book fair.
Not related to the book order forms, but in the summers on vacation I'd get some amount of spending money that I was supposed to use on things I wanted to buy, but when we'd go to the used bookstore my dad would always buy books for me so I didn't have to spend my own money.

I always loved the book order forms and book fairs! They were easily some of my favorite parts of the school year. I was rarely allowed to get anything though because my mom preferred for us to use the library.
