I am taking dinner to two different families tomorrow night and we're on a tight budget. It's so expensive to buy two $5 graham cracker crusts after I just bought all the other stuff for their dinners and I don't have the stuff to make them by hand, so strawberry pie is out.
Anything else that's really good and uses simple ingredients I have on hand? I have a big box of fresh strawberries I'd love to make two nice desserts out of...
Do you have an ice cream maker or could you borrow one? A nice strawberry ice cream would be yummy. What about a strawberry pretzel salad? There's lots of recipes out there, but I use this one. www.food.com/recipe/strawberry-pretzel-salad-29400
Strawberry cupcakes are a big hit around here. Simple too. Otherwise, I'd just mash them up and send them over with some ice cream if you have it. Sometimes simple is better. Do you have any church cookbooks in your house? Check there. They often have simple easy dessert recipes.
add 1/4 cup of cocoa and 2-3 tablespoons of sugar to bisquick's recipe for waffles. cook in your waffle maker (might have to go a little longer than it says to have a good crispy outside). top with ice cream and your favorite sundae topping along with the cut strawberries.
