Hi everyone!
I'm a new mom with a 6 week old, following an unplanned csection. I was in the best shape of my life (working out with weights, spin, yoga, and elliptical 4-5 days a week) when I got pregnant. Then I had lots of health issues during the pregnancy and didn't get to exercise much. Then I had to be induced due to high blood pressure and it failed, which lead to the csection.
I'm cleared to exercise slowly, due to the BP, but don't know how to even begin to get my belly back in shape. I think sit ups aren't good at first bc you want your ab muscles to come back together and not make diastasis recti worse, so what can/should I do? Any tips or guidance for what y'all did? I just started going for walks with the baby, but I know that's not much.
Thanks and I'm looking forward to getting back in shape! I miss working out.

Welcome! I didn't have a c-section, but I know what it's like to try to get back in shape after pregnancy. Go easy on yourself at first, and you'll get back there again.

Welcome! Congrats on your new little one. I've had two c-sections, but don't really have much advice as my youngest is already 2 and I'm still trying to figure out my tummy. I agree with the others to go easy on yourself. It took me many months to get back into a steady routine. Your walks sound great though.

Thanks guys. I need to stay on the walks though. I'm not always able to fit them in and don't know how I'll do any exercise when I have to go back to work.
More ideas like planks are totally appreciated! And when do you start back with sit ups and regular ab work?
I miss working out and I dread really getting back into it bc I know it's going to be so hard!

Its too early to work for your figure since since 6 wks done in c section operation. I think you better be relax and eat in a minimal amount so that its not hard for you when you are ready to get fit.

Congrats on your new bundle of joy! I had my daughter a little over nine months ago, although it wasn't by c-section. I'll repeat what the other posters said, go easy on yourself in the beginning. Like you, I just started walking and slowly increased my speed and mileage. I also joined My Fitness Pal and tracked my calories. It's easy to want fast results but it took me 6 months to get back down to my pre-pregnancy weight.
In addition to planks, I would also recommend leg lifts and glute bridges. Good luck!
Congrats on your new addition! I had my son via c/s 21 mths ago. Like you, i was in the best shape of my life pre preg. It took me a long time to get back into a routine. Life was way too busy at the beginning. Keep up with the walking, but ease into everything else, like PPs have said.
Welcome to the board and congrats on your new little baby! I am not a mom, so I have no actual advice to give, other than take it slow, and you should probably talk to your Dr about when you can start doing more intense ab work. I believe with a C-section there is some pretty major recovery time...Start with the walks and give yourself time. Your body will recover, but it won't be over night. And you will find a way (as impossible as it seems) to get in some workouts once you go back to work. It will all just work its way out!

Thanks again! I don't want to cut calories bc I'm breast feeding and worried about supply, but I think I use that as an excuse sometimes to over eat. I'll keep checking in here though for tips. And motivation to stay with the walks. It's gotten so freaking hot here already though!
