And I sort of feel like I did in 7th grade starting at a new school where I didn't really know anyone.
Will they like me?! Am I fast enough?! Fit enough?! This is ridiculous! I really struggle to do my long rides alone though, so if nothing else I hope it helps me to get long rides in (& hopefully it will push my pace (does not take much)).
I have the same fears about joining a new team. Did much better with marathon training when we all began together . . . But a team that already knows each other? Yeah. No.

Nice! You are more than fit and fast enough (hello? did you not podium at your last tri??)...not that you have to be fast or fit at all to join a team. And I don't know how anyone could not like you. Hope you enjoy it!
coconutbug you're the best encourager (heart) (heart) (heart). I'm sure it will be fun. If only we could get you your dream job here so that I could convince you to join too!!
and yes, elle , the idea of just showing up when everyone's already buddy buddy is a bit intimidating. The girls in my AG that are on the team are unreal fast. Oy.

That's what I was going to say! They will be intimidated by YOU, not the other way around.

I think there are very few things that you are ever wrong about. This just may be one of those elusive things! Thank you though (kiss). One of the girls in my AG is going for her pro card. I'm talking silly fast.
Maybe getting an occasional workout with them will make me a little faster though - that would be very good!
You'll be fine! Have fun and learn all you can from them. And you will most certainly fit in! How could you not?
Riding with faster people will make you faster, but beware that triathletes are notorious for having bad bike handling skills! Never ride a pace line in your aero bars!!!
