I signed up for the Newport, RI half marathon . . .
I wanted to do it, but hotel rooms for that weekend were crazy expensive. Well, cue DH's grandmother saying to us this weekend, "You should stay with DH's cousin!" (He lives in South Kingstown and owns his own business in Newport. I knew this about said cousin, but have never met him, so I felt weird inviting myself.) She contacted said cousin who said, "Yes! Come stay with us and we'll cheer you on!" I spoke with him myself (just to make sure he was comfortable with this and not just being nice for grandma's sake) and he did indeed say that we should come stay in their gorgeous guest bedroom and enjoy a weekend in Newport.
I signed up this morning, because I was afraid I'd chicken out. No turning back now.

Yay! Free accommodations are the best I'm doing the whole Triple Crown, so I'm doing Newport AND I'll be up for Jamestown in July also! I love Newport and you'll do great and finish just fine.

You're way more badass than I am.
Also, one of my former college roommates just messaged me that she and her sister are also doing the race - another added bonus!
Have fun! Will this be your first half? I love the Newport area!
I love the area, too! It will be my first half! I'm scared!
Don't be scared! Nervous is normal, I was so nervous before my first couple of halves. But if you ran a 10K you can run a half. And if you run a 15K (as you are in a couple of months) then you will be fine! Trust your training! And have fun!
