yes, I would tell them. Perhaps you can do a visual inspection and see if any areas need to be caulked or fixed before calling?

We had this same issue over the weekend. We found the entry point and put tape over it for now (it looks ridiculous, but I prefer that to putting ant poison on my kitchen counter). I let the landlord know that we are fine with that solution for now, but wanted to let them know in case they'd prefer a different one.

It looks like there isn't, but is there anything that the dog could get to easily? She's not into eating/chewing stuff, but I can't guarantee there wouldn't be a drive-by licking.

They're pretty self-contained.
And, you could put them in places where the dog wouldn't really get to them... I've put them up on the kitchen windowsill, and down sort of below the oven.
