...if the movers hadn't used so much paper to wrap everything.
Don't get me wrong, I am grateful that they wrapped my breakables so well, but they wrapped so many things that were not breakable in multiple sheets of paper, (individually, of course), and I am being buried alive by it. lol
It is taking a ridiculous amount of time to unwrap everything and smooth out and stack the paper so that it doesn't take up as much space and we can recycle it more easily. Luckily, that means that we don't have as much stuff as it appears we have, since the boxes they packed are 1/2 full of paper.
Unwrapping my kitchen and entertaining stuff is a bit like unwrapping wedding gifts. At first it is fun, and everything is pretty and special, but after awhile there is a big pile of stuff and you don't know where you are going to put it all. *sigh* On the upside, I am enjoying having things like glasses and our dishes. I am drinking my water out of a waterford crystal glass right now, just because I can.
This is what I'm dreading about our move, especially when it comes to the kitchen stuff. I'm debating packing up ourselves since I know I will use less paper. But, I also know I will cause us more damage by not packing well. lol.
Do you have Freecycle there? Someone might be moving and need paper for wrapping. That might be less resource-intensive than recycling it. I dunno.
Good luck with it though! Have you posted any pics lately? And what did you decide to do with the fireplace? And the flooring? I feel like I've missed a lot of updates from you.

I thought about CL or freecycle, but I don't really want to deal with it...recycling is easier. Also, I wouldn't be able to just leave it out on the porch, because everything paper gets soggy here really quickly. Boxes too.
I've mostly been staring at the white walls going crazy, and haven't done anything worth posting. I was without my laptop until a week ago, so pictures have been few and far between. Also, nothing too interesting has gone on....new roofing, new air conditioners, new electric, and some cut up drywall that isn't repaired yet and won't be for awhile. I guess you missed my flooring finish saga. The cork floor we got is gorgeous, but we had a lot of problems with the finishing. It is okay now...not perfect but close enough. It got finished a week and a half or so ago, then as soon as it was safe it was covered with brown paper to protect it from the movers and contractors. We've just now started pulling it up in the less used areas that are not covered by boxes.
We still need baseboards and some of the trim replaced, but we aren't in a hurry. We can't paint the walls until the drywall is repaired, but we aren't really in a hurry for that either. We have some more work to be done that is going to require drywall removed/repaired/installed, so we are going to wait and have the drywall guy take care of all of it at one time. I keep finding bad repairs from the previous owners or the guy who flipped the house, that we may redo and have fixed at the same time. I can wait.
The fireplace is currently sitting in my unfinished (but next on the list!) studio, and we are hoping to use it in the courtyard.
When my aunt & unce moved from Ohio to Georgia, we were at their Ohio house while the movers packed them. My mom was a smoker. I went with my Aunt & Uncle to Georgia for the summer when they moved. When the movers unloaded them I helped them unpack. The movers had packed the ashtray my mom had used with the ashes still in it.
lol yep moolarkey my grandma had her kitchen trash packed and moved with her because they got it in the truck before she thought to take the trash out.
