I was in the little playground attached to my building and a bunch of women were there with their kids. None of them spoke English so I didn't interact very much. I had Melody's water table out there and they were all freaking out because their kids (mainly 2-3 year olds I think) were splashing in it.
Well, no only were they freaking out that they were splashing, but they actually changed them because they got wet. Its 90 degrees here!! Your little precious is not going to die because he had some water splashed on him!
I had Melody in a romper with spaghetti straps and she was splashing, having a grand old time. Then one of the moms looks at me, completely appalled and goes "Isn't she cold?" ITS 90 FUCKING DEGREES LADY!!! No, shes not cold. I very nicely just responded "No, shes still quite warm" and proceeded to put water into her hair and on her face to cool her off as she continued to play. I must be the anti-christ.
Then they banded together and brought the water table to the side to empty it. (They didn't realize it was mine, I leave it in the playground so the kids in the building can share it. FTR, none of these people live in my building and it is supposed to be private)
I don't understand parents who won't let their kids be kids. They are supposed to splash and play when it is nice outside. They are supposed to play in the dirt, roll around in the grass, and be KIDS.

I have a friend like this and it drives me CRAZY. Clothes can be washed!

This. I have a picture of this past Sunday of Caleb eating bark (one of the ones I posted in the HDBD). Obviously I didn't let him keep it in his mouth, but within 10 minutes he was filthy and had tasted sticks and rocks 7 times. I'm sure people were side-eyeing me a bit, but several people smiled as they walked by.

I put the water table out for the community to share and honestly, Mel wasn't playing with it unless the other kids were, too. In this park size she is less distracted and follows the older kids around everywhere. She was much more interested in the slides and climbing the steps or playing with a ball.
Fun ruiners! That's ridiculous. I had Audrey out this afternoon at her water table and she had a blast. They need to calm down and let their kids have fun.
I met a friend and her holy-hell-you're-uptight mom group at the water sprayer area of the natural history museum today. I was the only one whose kid played in the water! Everyone else sat off in the shade and criticized the nannies who let kids play and get wet.
