Okay, so who watched it last night? I will admit that the premiere at 9pmEST last night was actually the 4th time I had seen it. And then ABCFamily played the episode again afterwards... and I watched that one too. So I've seen the pilot episode of Bunheads 5 times so far. LOL!
I'm in love with the show. I think it has the Gilmore girls spirit... without being a recreation. Sutton Foster was AMAZING as Michelle. Her comedic timing and faces were hilarious. And Amy Sherman-Palladino's writing has never been better... the same quippy, quick-witted dialogue that made Gg so wonderful! And Kelly Bishop... once again, wow! I love the chemistry between Sutton and Kelly, and like to chalk it up to the fact that they both have Tonys! The girls in the dance class are adorable. I can't wait to see more from Boo! And I loved seeing some of the Gg alumni... Emily Gilmore, Drella/Miss Celine, and Gypsy! I can't wait to see who else makes an appearance!
And H LOVED the show. He will admit that Gg is one of the best written shows ever. And he's really nit-picky, so I was waiting for him to hate Bunheads without even watching it. I turned to him halfway through and asked him what he thought, and he said "It's actually REALLY good! I think it has a TON of potential". That made me giddy.
SPOILERS BE BELOW...
It was so hard to keep Hubbell's death from my friend who was waiting to watch the pilot episode when it premiered last night. Although I love "Cameron" (really, how many of you still refer to him as Cameron? I can't help it!), I just didn't see someone like Michelle falling in love with someone like Hubbell... no matter how hard she tried. I think he was the vehicle to get Michelle and Fanny together... and I think that's where the awesomeness of this show is going to be. I can't wait to see who Michelle's "Luke" is.
Thank you for the spoiler warning...I skipped reading them as I have not watched yet. My mom and I are both GG fans and she watched last night and loved it. Cannot wait to have time to sit down and watch it!!
ABC Family doesn't seem to censor themselves when it comes to adult topics. And keep in mind, Gilmore girls plays it's repeats on ABC Family daily. Secret Life of the American Teenager talks nonstop about sex, teenage pregnancy, drugs, etc. They're not the Disney Channel, that's for sure!

Imoan I was just coming over here to tell you how much I loved it! I thought it was great and can't wait for more already! Sutton Foster was amazing, I forgot how much I missed Kelly Bishop on my TV and the show was just overall really good. I was very surprised by the twist at the end though, although I agree that they would have never worked as a couple so really it's not that surprising I guess.

YAY! I was scared that I would love it because of Gilmore girls... so when H started talking about how good it was and how it had real potential, I started to realize that I'm not just being biased. I'm really encouraged by the number of people here on ProBoards and on tumblr who are really pleased with the show. I see a lot of "I'm surprised it was so good"... but I had total and complete faith in Amy Sherman-Palladino!
die hard GG fan here, have seen every episode countless times.
I liked Bunheads but was definitely yelling WTF at the end, did not see that coming. None of the teenagers really struck out to me as very interesting so we'll see how she develops those characters.

I have never seen GG (I know, I'm sorry), but I actually got excited on your behalf when I saw previews for this, imoan. Glad you liked it!
Okay, so I know what fein is doing with HER upcoming weekend! ::stares fein down::
Haha, I've been seriously considering downloading the series since hearing how much you and a few others on here like it. I need to bite the bullet and hunt it down, I know.
I'm sorry guys! My family was all TV adverse. I was not the cool kid in school. Never saw Dawson's Creek, Gilmore Girls, the Simpsons, anything on MTV until at least high school... I completely blame my parents for my lack of social graces. It's their fault I could never talk about anything contemporary.

I'm not sure how old you are... but Gilmore girls started airing when I was in college (like my sophomore year or something). So if you're around my age, NO EXCUSE!

According to wiki, it started in 2000, so my freshman year of high school. I was still solidly under the parental thumb.
It's totally Gilmore Girls-ish in flavor and I'm going to love it, I can tell. I saw the first episode a few days ago on OnDemand and I'm going to keep tracking it. The main female lead seems very Lorelei-ish to me, and of course I love that the MIL is the mother from GG (can't remember the actress' name right now). She's fantastic.
My husband was acting cranky it was so similar to GG but by the end of the episode he admitted it was really good. I don't think the previews did it justice--I loved having the quick paced dialogue and witty repartee back! And Kelly Bishop and Sutton Foster. I actually saw both of them in Anything Goes last November on Broadway--fantastic! Can't wait to see what happens.
I kinda wish that twist had come a couple episodes in, but overall I really liked it. Now it's just remembering when it's on for the future, which is my biggest struggle with all new shows.

Did you see that I paged you on ML yesterday?! You are my new favorite person in all the interwebz... solely because of your name and sig quote!!! Can we be besties 4eva? I don't know how to french braid hair... but I'm REALLY good at spending entire days sitting in front of the tv, watching episodes of Gilmore girls and drinking lots of coffee!
Only if I can have cheeseburger with a side of cheeseburger and a cheeseburger smoothie while we watch. I'm partial to the Jess years but am otherwise an equal opportunity Gilmore groupie.
I'm mad I missed my first page! Boo. Darn baby who doesn't sleep.
I think we can be besties 4eva cuz you are doing a book challenge that sounds awesome. And your blog just blew my mind--Richard Gilmore in Annie, one of my favourite movies?? How did I miss that??

"The biggest cheeseburger ever... let's break a record here, Mister!"
Your baby is adorable, by the way.
And I love imparting knowledge to Gilmore girl groupies! Yep... Richard Gilmore = FDR! It's true... and it's awesome!
I didn't know the actress that played Emily would be in this one too! I just saw the pilot today in the afternoon. Love it!!!
I actually read somewhere the other day that that actress (Kelly Bishop) wasn't actually available to shoot the pilot because she was doing the same show as Sutton Foster and they'd only let one of them go. So they shot the entire pilot without Kelly and then when the show got picked up, they re-shot it with her because Amy Sherman-Palladino only wanted her for the role. She also says Fanny is much more like Kelly Bishop in real life than Emily Gilmore.
I adore Kelly Bishop. I even love her when she and my beloved Lenny Briscoe are putting Baby in a corner.
