I am doing a 5 mile trail run tomorrow morning. It is a very small race, there is alsos a trail half and 5K, but under 50 people have registered for all 3 of them and I think there is a legitimate chance that I will come in last place, I think. I decided to do a trail run under similar circumstances last night (sandy and hilly, like the course will be) and it was a huge fail. I am scared but I know it will be fun.
I'm doing a local 5k Pump n Run race. You bench press first (men have to bench their full weight, women do 60% of theirs) and however many reps you can do, they knock 30 seconds off of your 5k time. So after you bench, you run the 5k, and they determine the overall winner by that. You can just run the 5k too, but there are separate awards for that.
Maybe. There is a 15K trail race in my local state park. I will go do it as long as the weather looks like it will be ok (threat of thunderstorms). @mjmksb04 - I understand about the small race thing, this race only had 200 runners last year. I'm hopeful that I won't be last. There were some really fast people (and not many slow ones) who ran it last year!
archaeominx - That sounds awesome! I love kickball!
Update: I didn't race. It is nasty and rainy here and I hadn't registered in advance. I still did my long run, but I didn't feel like paying to run in the rain.

Meeeee! First race ever!
Its a local 4.09 mile race organized to benefit a fund set up for a local family who had 2 daughters injured in Boston. No shirts or prizes, but I'm happy to be participating!

I do a lot of small local races like this, since I live in a rural area, but I was looking at the times of people who finished races in this same series and it seems like it brings out a lot of fast people I usually run a 9 mm, but on the sandy, hilly trails, I am looking at more like an 11-12 mm. I am excited about the challenge of it though.
I am running my first half marathon tomorrow!!! Very nervous and excited! DH and I are leaving in a couple of hours to drive down, check into hotel and head to the expo. I am spending today drinking lots of water. Good luck everyone!

Good luck racers!
I'm actually at the airport waiting for my flight to San Diego. No racing for me, but we're going to cheer on a couple of our friends who are doing the RnR half. Any other H&F ladies planning on being there?

I'm doing a big women's 5k in my area. I'm bummed because I don't think I'll PR. It's been hot and humid here, and if my run yesterday was any indication, it will not be pretty. Still, it's got a great atmosphere, so I'm looking forward to it.
I'm registered for a 5k but I may not do it. Between a long drive, a packed day tomorrow, possible bad weather, and having not run since last month, it has a lot of things against it but I would love to not waste my $$ since I can't do a race next week due to being on vacation. Clearly, I would not be racing it. lol
I am racing my 2nd aquabike of the season tomorrow. Given my massive sinus infection that won't go away, I'm not holding out much hope. I think I'm going to shoot for a really cheesy 'thumbs up' picture on my bike.
Sounds like a lot of first time racers! Good luck, ladies!
I am doing the Covered Bridge Half on Sunday in Vermont. It is supposed to be hot and humid and isolated thunder storms, so hopefully the early start time will keep it cool and the storms at bay, though by 9 am this morning it was already humid and in the mid 80s!
