Anyone have experience? We just booked our flights and I'm so excited!! We're looking for hike recommendations. No backpacking this time because we're hitting a bunch of parks.
We have 1 full day to split between Arches and Canyonlands (staying in Moab). 1 day of major driving to hit one of the rims of the Grand Canyon. 3 full days staying in Springdale to split between Bryce and Zion.
One of my all-time favorite hikes is Zion Narrows. I also liked Cable Mountain in Zion. In Bryce Canyon there is a cool one that you can do at night without lights if there is a full-moon, I think it is Fairyland...you need to Google about this.

Is the narrows the slot one with a river? If it is it's on the list. I ordered a couple books, but they are your typical hiking books and are just trail descriptions and not recommendations.

That sounds like an amazing trip! I've hiked in Arches and Grand Canyon. If you have time, I highly recommend hiking to the bottom of Grand Canyon. It's really amazing.

Yes, that's the narrows. We rented water shoes and hiking sticks which I think helped a lot. Even though it was summer, the water was chilly and I think I wore a jacket the whole time. Angels landing was a great hike too. We went to Bryce but didn't spend more than 1/2 day there, so no good recommendations there.

I don't know if we'll have time to hike the Grand Canyon this time, but I'm sure we'll be back.
We hike a lot in NH, but I've never been anywhere in the Southwest. I'm so so excited!
Please post back when you come back. We are thinking of taking a backpacking trip to Utah next year, so I would love to hear about it. Last year we did the Grand Canyon, but otherwise we mostly hike in the Adirondacks.

I just wore my old running shoes in the river. Worked for me. :-)

I will! We aren't going until Oct, I'm just bored at work and excited.
I did find that the reasonably priced hotels are already booked up, so if you aren't camping the whole time book early.

I've seen pictures of Angels Landing and I'm kind of terrified. I hate edges. I'm fine on ridge lines above the tree line but that just looks like a straight drop off. My boyfriend really wants to do it and wants me to wear my climbing harness and clip into the handrail. Lol.
We are taking a 2 week road trip through Utah in July and visiting all the parks you mentioned plus others. Arches, Zion, Bryce, Canyonlands, North Rim of Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, Monument Valley. I've been to all these before but H hasn't.
I'm planning on doing the Delicate Arch hike at Arches. I've never done it before but its one I have wanted to do. If your going down to Grand Canyon and go by Lake Powell, I recommend Antelope Canyon. Beautiful slot canyons there!
If your going in the summer months, make sure you have adequate water amounts for your hikes. It can get into the 100s! You'll have a good time! I'm so excited for our trip!
Book a fiery furnace at Arches NP - it's one of the coolest places there, but the tours fill up fast. Negro bills canyon in moab is cool too. I haven't done angles landing but my sister said it wasn't as bad as the pictures make it look. Kolab canyon on the west side of zion is amazing. Make sure to bring warm stuff for bryce - it's been known to snow there in October. Sorry i don't have more recommendations for hiking - we do more mt biking when we hit up southern UT
