Are you planning on getting a little potty or a little seat that sets on top of the big toilet? I really don't want it have to clean a separate toddler toilet so I was thinking of the small seat but was wondering if they couldn't use those until they are older?

we bought a little one, but the top part comes off and can go over the big toilet. I wanted a little one first so she could sit on it while I go to the bathroom and then I want her to start to be able to use the bigger potty when she can communicate her needs

I just used the seat inserts that go over the toilet seat in the past. I don't like having to clean the little seats. It also eliminated the extra step on getting them to go on the toilet (some kids transfer easily and some don't). For Evelyn I'm probably going to do the same thing I did for the girls.
Since I have a boy, I probably won't buy a little potty. I may buy the potty seat. But at work, we had little stools and the boys learned to lift the seat and stand on the stool and pee into the toilet (they basically just had their knee's pressed against the toilet and leaned in, so it went in. They didn't necessarily aim. I'll probably just do that, since it seemed to work well.
We use both. G signs for and uses the potty about 50% of the time. If given the choice, she points to the big potty (with the seat reducer) right now, but 2 weeks ago she would arch away from that one but happily sit on the little potty. Most of the time when I go, I sit her on her little potty.

G's daycare has the baby bjorn seat reducer that they use for the smaller kids. We have a different one at home with handles on the sides that G can hold onto for balance. As long as you're fine with lifting her on/off of it, there's no reason she can't just use the little seat.
The one piece toddler toilets are really easy to clean. If you do end up getting one, look for one with no nooks and crannies.

When she first started, it was too difficult for her to maneuver herself onto the toilet without help, and she seemed to prefer the smaller potty. She easily transitioned to a ring on the toilet once she got the hang of it after a few months.

Both. The little seat was very helpful the first few days when she was learning to control her bladder and didn't have any seconds to spare. Poop went in the big potty, she never had a poop accident while training. She stopped using the seat ring several months ago.
We only have tall toilets in our house, like ones in a handicap bathroom. My feet don't touch the ground that well when I pee so I have no clue how a toddler would potty train on it easily. I'm guessing ill just buy a potty.

We have the little seat that goes on the regular toilet. Dylan liked it so we didn't bother with the potty chair. I didn't look forward to cleaning the poop out of it anyway.

That is what I figured, so we will definitely get a small potty to start.
We have something similar to what kkfeb04 posted, but in ceramic. It is magnetic and pops into the top when not in use. I'm not a fan of cleaning little potties or having them take up space in the bathroom.
Little potty. Holden was able to manage the whole business by herself really early (no telling me she had to go). We occasionally found secret turds in the potty in her room.
Thank you all! I think I will look into those all in one lids. She will probably be the only kid when she's potty training so I think I could manage helping her with that.

Same here. We have one like kkfeb04 but ceramic instead of wood.
