I'm getting my first ever Brazilian wax in like a half hour! I've only had bikini waxes like once or twice in my life and they hurt so bad but I figured I should get one for my big trip.
Yeah, I'm not going to lie, it hurts like a mother... definitely take some pain reliever!! But you will survive, I'm sure you've been through much worse!

Maybe I am weird but I didn't think it was worse than a reg. bikini wax. Truthfully, I had my legs waxed before and I swear that was the most painful ever!
Yikes. Not fun. After suffering through a few Brazilians and feeling like someone pounded on my lady bits, and being SO SORE to the touch for days, I decided to get laser hair removal. Best decision ever. Down with Brazilians. They're the worst
I wish I could get laser hair removal! I don't think my hair/skin is the right type though
I would totally get a brazilian but I'm afraid it'd make me all bumpy. That and you know, hurt like a bitch.
I get laser too! The lighter your skin color and the darker your hair color, the better the results. I used a Groupon and got 6 sessions for $300 bikini and 6 underarm for $130
I'm pretty darn light skinned but my pubes are practically blonde haha.
I'm not going to lie; it's not fun. But the good news is, once it's over, it's over -- and though it hurts, it's not excruciating. It's an immediate pain, but it's mid-level, and it fades quickly. You'll be fine. Take some Advil and try to relax.
I hope I'm doing it far enough in advance that I won't be all red and shit I won't be in a bathing suit until Friday
If you do Sugaring versus waxing it doesn't rip off the top layer of skin and is way less irritating. They also make a numbing lotion you can put on your bikini area before waxing that helps. The lady that does mine also puts some soothing oil on afterwards. It hurts when they initially rip, but it doesn't last.

Tell me it won't be that bad!
I will lie and say its not that bad Really, its very short and so worth it. Just take deep breaths and try not to anticipate the pull. I chat a lot to try and distract myself. I have an appointment tonight too for mine......

You'll be fine...my appt is tonight for the redness to have died down by Thurs. Definitely take some Advil before and after. I recommend going to CVS or a natural foods store and picking up tea tree oil. Mix a little bit of it with some lotion and put it on the irritated parts a couple times a day for the next couple of days--it's a natural antimicrobial. It sounds counterintuitive, but my waxer also recommends exfoliating the area to prevent ingrown hairs. I've also heard a product called "Tend Skin" recommended, but I haven't used that one consistantly enough to recommend it. You'll be fine.

omg good luck, I've only been waxed once and it was for my wedding almost 10 years ago, worst experience ever. My bff was in the room with me and I couldn't help but scream with every pull, the lady kept telling me it was a spa and I needed to be quiet, lol... couldn't contain the screaming.
But, my sister in-law had her first brazilian two months ago and I told her my experience, so she was totally nervous. She took a loritab and said it wasn't that bad, the second time she went she only took ibuprofen, and again said it wasn't bad and totally worth it. so I'm just a wimp apparently.

I'm not going to lie That shit hurt I went to European Wax center and they claim to be the only place that have this wax that just sticks to the hair not the skin so I think it hurt less than it normally would (it hurt less on my face than normal) They have locations all over so try it next time!
Agreed! While waxing may hurt, laser feels like a rubber band is being snapped against you with each zap and you need a heck of a lot of zaps for each area (each one covers about one square inch) and then you need to go back for 6-12 treatments!
I have a super high tolerance for pain and even I jump a bit when she zaps my labia, especially far under there. I'd stick to shaving if I were you!
Okay, nevermind, no laser hair removal for me either, apparently I'm a wuss. And LOL, not like bloody murder screams, but more like loud shrieks/eeks and to this day my bff likes to laugh at me about it, the 'shrieks' would just come shooting out, I had no control over them, ha ha!

And this gives me your answer to my post re: laser hair removal
I must have a really high pain tolerance then b/c my laser treatments aren't that bad. Honest! I usually ice the area first, which numbs the skin, and it helps tremendously. The first time, I was like WTF is she doing down there with that laser in my hoo-ha, and I held a stress ball in my hand so I could squeeze something hard. But after the second, third, fifth, sixth time, I got used to it and it's not bad at all. And the best thing is - after your treatments - you're done! Finito! No hair growth!
I think I might treat myself to laser hair removal as a divorce present. I had a brazilian once and it didn't totally suck, but it wasn't pleasant, either. I just wasn't happy with how fast it grew back!
