Oh yeah! I read that one before, didn't realize they were husband and wife. Her post is beautiful.
Yeah, it changed the way I view myself and I'm planning on using the idea when DD gets older. She has some scars from being a preemie, including one that goes from hip to hip across her abdomen. I read once that one young boy called them his battle scars. I know when she gets older she's going to feel self-conscious about some of them, and I plan to help her see they are a part of her; they are the evidence that she fought and survived. Each of her scars tells a story.

That is such a great way to look at it and it will be wonderful to instill that in her so young! Does she ever ask about her scars now? Or does she not care yet?

She's asked what they were before and she knows they're there but they're not a big deal. She knows when she was born she was too early and really sick for a long time. It's possible she'll never worry about it, but I'm guessing when she gets older, it'll be an issue. The abdomen one is easily hidden, but she's got one that's visible in a bathing suit. It healed oddly from stitches and it looks like a few folds of skin were stapled shut (which I guess they kind of were).

Well, it sounds like her mama is prepared for if they do bother her at some point!
