Coconut Sorbet (or is it sherbert, I have no idea) 1 can coconut milk 1 can water (use the empty coconut milk can to measure) 1 cup of shredded sweetened coconut (optional: toasted) (you can use unsweetened too, if you can find it, and just increase the sugar to your desired sweetness) 1/2 C - 1 C sugar (to taste)
Heat all ingredients on stove to dissolve sugar. Chill and freeze in ice cream maker.

My favorite thing to make is custard style strawberry ice cream. omg, it's strawberry season... I can dig up the recipe, but it's not super beginner friendly.

I'm willing to try it! I once made a chocolate ganache bow for a cake just bc some friends asked me to even though I had never done it before. I like to dive right into recipes
I used this recipe as the base for the Almond Raspberry Ice Cream that I literally just finished freezing and am now eating a bowl of. Halve this recipe though, it made so much of the base I couldn't freeze it all. I'll have to refreeze my bowl and freeze the rest in a few days. (If you PM me your email I can send you the large jpg files you can print out.)
Oh! Make frozen yogurt by taking a large tub of yogurt and mixing in 1/2-1C sugar (depending on your taste, I usually do 3/4C). Mix until the sugar is dissolved then freeze in the ice cream maker.

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure this is the base I use. It's from my school book and is seriously amazing, given that some of the recipes are pretty "meh" in there. The strawberry variation is there as well.
ETA: I almost always forget to the cut the eggs down in the variation, so that will effect the richness.
I have that red velvet ice cream starred in my google reader! Must move to the top of my make list. I missed the butterscotch ice cream on smitten kitchen, omg!
I took my freezer bowl out of the freezer for breastmilk storage. Now that the freezer stash is gone I seriously need to get it back in there, stat.
