Another PT post today... Linus has always been totally clueless basically about potty training and I've put no thought into it because it seemed so far off. No interest whatsoever. I got him a potty a while back and he thought it was cool to just sit on it, so I took his pants off and he freaked. I just left it sit there and figured I'd revisit when he showed interest. Today he just said "Linus pee pee potty" so I asked him if he wanted to go pee pee on the potty and he started to sit on it. So I undressed him and he sat there and forced out the teeny tiniest little bit of pee lol. So we did the whole cheering, clapping, yay, etc. He looked sooooo proud of himself, I never thought watching a kid try and pee would be so cute lol. So I put his diaper on and 5 minutes later he wanted to go again. So he basically spent most of the entire afternoon sitting on the potty. He's trying to force himself to pee so hard though that he even pooped and was freaked out by the "Acky poopoo in the potty" lol. I know he's just fascinated by this "new thing" right now, but I don't know what to do! I felt bad because I had to take him off the potty for his nap basically kicking and screaming because he didn't want to get off of it. He was sitting on it for literally 40 minutes straight just making himself pee the tiniest amounts at a time. I probably already traumatized him somehow. Anyhow, what are some PT resources you like? I'm clueless. Is this fascination with it the sign he's ready? He used to tell us when he peed, but he shows no signs of anything now.
It sounds like he's starting to be ready, or at least aware of it. If you want to seriously encourage it, you could try a few days of dedicated potty time: take him to the potty every 30 minutes, while encouraging him to drink water. Make it fun and exciting, like you did today and see where it goes. If he does well those days, then maybe consider getting him some training pants,
Thanks everyone. Bad timing since we're going to be gone all day tomorrow! He was on his potty ALL night and even poo poo'ed in it! Although I left him sitting there to change his sister and he ran over and said "mommy biiiiiig pee pee ground" and he'd left a puddle. He used it a ton today! It seems like he doesn't necessarily understand WHEN he has to use it, but just that he likes using it and pee goes in it lol. So I guess he'll learn the more he does it! He was very excited to show DH the "Pee pee penis potty" as he started calling it. I guess because he stares at his penis the WHOLE time. Boys. I wish it wasn't inappropriate to post potty pics online because I have some hilarious "first day on the potty" pics.
