We brought a copy of her birth certificate but wasn't asked to show it. She had her own seat, so maybe that's why - because we showed her ticket? If Max is going to be a lap baby, you might have to prove he's under 2. (Although he's obviously under 2, but you know what I mean!) We flew US Air.

I wonder if others had to show something?
We're flying Southwest and it says under 2 must show birth certificate... its only an hour flight and we dont have a seat for him. I just wonder if a ss card is just as good, youd think it would be...

I'm not sure it is since an SS card doesn't show birthdate and they may need you to prove he's under 2. Can you get a copy of his birth certificate to have too?
I just had to prove his age to get his boarding pass when I flew Southwest. I didn't have a birth certificate yet so I brought his shot record and that worked fine.

oh interesting... i will keep that in mind if i can't find it.
We flew Southwest last Oct and needed his birth certificate. Better find it or get a new copy. You don't want any headaches at the airport!
ETA: they asked for it to print a boarding pass for him
he won't get a boarding pass, just sitting on my lap but it does sound like we'll need it from what everyone has said. too late to get a new copy but we'll try to find it. i haven't seen it since we moved but i haven't really looked...
Rad. DH just told me that he never ordered the copy of the birth certificate (I think that was his "job" after the baby was born, I was too out of it...) HA.

Awesome! I'm excited because this means you are getting ready to come to Northern Cali! Can't wait to meet you and hass2001 on Sunday. Hey is charlielove coming? I lost track with all of the back and forth. Can't wait for our gtg!
ETA: I only flew with Lila on Southwest when she was 6 weeks, 12 weeks and then on Alaska when she was 7 months, so all clearly when she was well under 2, but they only asked for the birth certificate on the Alaska one.

Yeah! Excited too and a little overwhelmed about flying by myself w/ M. hehe! I think it was just hass and us...

I'm still coming! I'm excited to meet you ladies. Good luck with the flight - you'll have to give me some tips as I will be flying with sam in August!

I'm not coming. It's a bit of a drive and I have plans later that morning. Have fun guys!
we always bring his birth certificate but never needed it (always fly on united). But we always do get a boarding pass for him even though he is a lap infant. It just prints out since I say he is flying with me.
Btw u can get an extra copy in point loma same day if u can't find it!
My flight is at 8am tomorrow
So all I have is an immunization record that says he was born 4/23/12... hope that works. If it doesn't, I guess we will try to beg for a flight on Sunday and go get a birth certificate. D'oh....

Evan didn't have his own seat either but they still need to print a boarding pass.
I'm surprised by the responses! I've flown a lot with Kai and have never brought or needed ID for him. He's usually on my lap, but he's had his own seat a couple of times. I'm glad I read this in case I fly Southwest with him sometime!
