So apparently the race I was supposed to run was a disaster. According to their Facebook page the course was short, they misdirected runners, and there wasn't adequate water. So glad I stayed home!
Good decision! Man, I feel so bad for the people who didn't get water! That happened to some folks who finished after me at a race I ran a couple years ago. It was super hot, dead of summer, AND on the boardwalk of the beach. Poor folks had to wait in a long line to get a little Dixie cup filled with water from a hose.

Zooma eh? You made a very good call. I started the half and bailed mid-run. Finished the 10k instead. I got dehydrated despite drinking so much water beforehand and during. Not good news to get goosebumps by mile 4.

Yeah, it was zooma. I thought about dropping to the 10k. It was going to be too hot! I don't think people would have had much of an issue if they had more time to get acclimated to the weather. I've done the Annapolis 10 miler in August and while it is hot, it's not too bad because you've had all summer to adjust.

I even had trouble with the 10k.. Maybe because I was already dehydrated in guess. It was just bad news all around.
I'm doing Charles st 12 miler in August and am petrified now. I am going to start out slower and just really run for fun I think. Hopefully being acclimated to summer running will help too like you said.

I would love to do the 12 miler but I will be really pregnant by then. At least with that one its pretty much downhill I would think and it ends at locust point, right? There's a frozen yogurt shop there so you can dream of that the whole way. Also, charm city usually runs a pretty tight ship so I don't see issues with water, staffing, etc. being a problem.

Yes all down hill! I love that part. And CCR is great- I do their training group so a lot of girls that I run with will be there.
