H and I both need cars badly and my FIL worked at Nissan so we get a good deal. My H is looking into leasing the leaf (thoughts on leasing??) and I just test drove the versa and compared to all the other cars I've test driven the last few weeks it seems to be the right for me (and I'm basic and it meets all my needs). Anyone familiar with either car?

We have a Versa and aren't happy with it. It doesn't handle well in the wind on the highway. I have to hold the steering wheel tight with both hands to keep control. It catches in the wind and gets pulled. We won't be able to have 2 kids in carseats with the Versa. Right now we have the carseat behind the passenger seat and only I can sit there and I have my knees right up against the dash and I'm only 5'1. DH who is 6' cant even sit in the passenger seat. The a/c and heat are weak. We've brought it in to the dealership because we thought the a/c was broken and they said no, it was fine. We have a 1998 Civic and I love it way more and actually feel safer in it than I do in the Versa. If I could go back I wouldn't have bought it. It's also not as fuel efficient as our Civic. We have the 2009 Versa btw.
Thank you for the perspective. Do you have the sedan or hatchback?? We tried both carseats in and it in great. Do you think the brand of the carseat could make or break it? I have a 2 door currently so this seems like a huge upgrade, lol!

We have the hatchback. Our carseat is the Diono Radian. I'm sure once we go FF we would have more leg room. I think I tell DH every day that I hate the car lol On the other hand it's very roomy for a subcompact (without carseats). We took it on a 21hour road trip with 4 people and it was actually very comfortable. Whenever I have friends or family in the car they always comment about how comfortable and roomy it is. So it does have its pros. We got it in black with a black interior and it gets SO hot in the summer and the a/c just can't keep up, so don't get black!
