We have guests coming into town this weekend, the guest comforter is getting kind of old, and I decided to order a coverlet/quilt. My dogs love to lay on both beds so I'm converted to coverlet/quilts because they're usually machine washable and I can add blankets underneath. Well I ordered a really nice coverlet from the hotel collection and it said machine washable. I liked some from west elm better but those were dry clean only. I put the quilt on the bed with all of the tags. My dog just threw up on it. I was like ok NBD and checked the tag for washing suggestions. It says dry clean only. Wtf? Online it's listed as machine washable! It's a cotton/polyester blend. WWYD? I can't return it with vomit. I'm not dry cleaning this thing constantly. Would you wash it?
Can you look up the online description that says machine washable and take a screen shot and then write the co that it's the reason you bought that over ones from elsewhere?
I'm probably too lazy for all of this, but damn those can be pricey.

I'd call and tell them that it said machine washable online and the tag says dry clean only and that you purchased it specifically not to dry clean. and that your dog vomited on it and you went to wash it and saw the tag stating dry clean only and that you'd like to return it.
Well, you can't use it with dog vomit on it and you don't want to dry clean it, so I think your only option is to wash it. If something happens to it after washing, you could call the company and say it shrank or whatever when you washed it.
I think that's really all you can do if you don't want to dry clean it.

I put it in the washer on delicate with cold water. My washer doesn't have an agitator so hopefully that helps. The reviews on Macy's all talk about machine washing it. One person got fuzz balls afterwards. I guess we'll see.
I think they put "dry clean only" on the tags just to save their ass in case the coverlet shrinks after being machine washed. Wash it in gentle cycle and see what happens.
