Lovely! The floor plan is great. I see the living room, kitchen, bath... What's missing here? See, you and @nicoleroche should move east and get more for your money!

You get used to the humidity!
Haha, that's a lie, no you don't! But the cheap housing makes up for it! You just have stay inside your huge home in the air conditioning from 11:00-6:00 everyday and you'll be just fine! Who needs to be outside during that time anyway?
I think Oregon has a pretty good market on houses. My dream homes are all in the $300-400,000 range, but we just couldn't afford the mortgage comfortably until I'm done with school. You can still find descent homes here in the $200,000 range, which is more what we want to spend on a mortgage. I couldn't imagine living in an area were $350,000 gets you such a small place, but it just goes to show how different parts of the country are.

You definitely get more bang for your buck in Salem. I live in a pretty nice, desirable neighborhood, but there are areas that are being gentrified in Portland that you can get a 4 bedroom for under 200k.

yes, and Portland is also a bigger city with many more things going on. Portland is better than Salem. Salem is boring......but we are willing to travel an hour to go do something fun for a day or evening.
Here is where it gets sad. $1 million still only gets you a 2 bedroom condo, 1500 sq feet. BOO. I mean, it is decent on the inside, but for a million dollars I would really like a touch more room.
For over a million, I want an actual house. Not a condo. That's why we are doing a few things to our loft so that we can stay put for a few more years. Then we will be looking in Brookline. Its as far out of the city as I want to be
@sprinkles I didn't know you live in West Michigan! Is your avatar pic on Lake MI? I have family in Ada. The massive house they bought was listed as an estate. They paid less than a million for it. Michigan's housing market is insane.
