Wow. We will tap his hand to draw his attention to it and whatever he's doing wrong, but never causing pain. I admit, we spanked DD when she was younger on occasion, but never this early.
And time outs for a baby?! Seriously? How is that remotely effective?

How does she know her child "understands the consequences"? I don't believe that at 10 months a child can't reason like that or has the comprehension to understand.

Seriously, my 13 month old still can't figure out that the fourth time he puts dirt in his mouth, it's going to taste just as bad as the first three times. Yes, he's learning what "no" means (and how to say it himself), but punishment is something they can't grasp yet.
Did you see the comment by the person who flicks their kid on the hand because they can't do it back? Babies will learn to hit if you hit their hand, but they can't flick yet! Klass
Just wait until he/she is 18 and angry. That is the kid that goes in with a gun and kills a bunch of people.
There was someone who suggested pulling the hair back to show them how it feels. Disgusting. I think it's been deleted now.
Yes, I knew someone who, when their toddler/preschooler bit someone in daycare, her punishment was that her father would "gently" bite her on the arm at home, to "teach her not to bite."

My family suggested I bite Hazel. I couldn't roll my eyes hard enough
I did this to my little sister, it worked . In my defense I was 10 and she was 4. My parents never disciplined her so she was a mess.
