That's a great view! Honestly, there isn't anything I really love. The rooms are oddly shaped, the windows suck and the outside is a horribly ugly color. I've tolerated this place for 6 years. I am ready to buy a house.

I love our yard. We have 2.5 acres and there is a pasture behind our hosue where we let our neighbors horses and donkey roam. We've talked about getting C a horse or pony when he is a bit older. It's nice to take Christian to see them and we feed them fruit. I see myself sitting outside with a cold lemonade watching my kids play.
Our back deck. We picked this house because the deck faces west, and there's a 60' drop off behind us. We look out at the tops of trees and watch the sunset.

Now that makes me jealous! Drawback to the city - tiny yards, definitely no horses In fact, we are teaching H to ride his bike without training wheels now, and it makes me acutely aware of how little space we have. No streets quiet enough to practice on, so you have to go to crowded parks and pray he doesn't crash into anyone!
I was going to start a similar thread! Great minds think alike!
Our favorite thing about our new house is the location. We are located on a court (little traffic and all the neighbors have kids) and our backyard backs up to DNR protected woods so they can never be built on or cut down. We are in walking distance to Lake St. Clair, which is a HUGE lake that is connected to the Great Lakes water system. I'm not out in the country, though, which the shopper in me could never handle. I'm 20 minutes from a major mall, 35 minutes north of downtown Detroit. I feel like we have the best of everything here!
To give you an idea of the woods, here's a pic of the view out my dining room:

Unfortunately we live off a really busy road. Our driveway is hidden so people speed by and it's dangerous. I have to put my window down, radio off and really listen for cars in a distance. I always say that I wish we could move our house and land in another area. I remember the first night we spent the night here it was so weird hearing cars drive by. There were only blinds and no curtains so there wasn't much to block the sound out.
Our backyard. We live on a little over an acre and the back is fenced in. We have a big deck and a fire pit and swingset. It just so relaxing out there.
I love our location. There are a lot of parks and a nice main street I can walk with Emerson. Second favorite thing is my oven...I love it. I never had a brand new stove/oven before this house.
I love the back bedroom which was my office before J was born when I was in law school. It's a special mixed purple and sort of faces the water (if you squint). It's very calming.

Location location location. We LOVE our neighborhood and are super close to our neighborhood lake and lagoon. I wish we could gut this entire place but we are doing as few improvements as possible since we are upside down. H's room is my favorite when it's clean which is very rare these days.
I love almost everything about my house, but I think I like best of all how peaceful it is. Also, the kitchen is really easy to cook in and it's otherwise very well laid out.
The patio. The rest of the house is still "in progress" and we're about to kick off a major renovation of the crappy addition next month. The patio is finished though, and we use it constantly during the summer. (this photo is from last summer- we've doubled the table this spring so that all the babies/high chairs in our group of friends can sit with us)
