We went as a family of 5 to Disney world in the early 90s. About 5 years later we went as a family to Germany. Same amount of days and Disney cost twice as much.
Yep. I just saw it on the news this morning. I think that is insane! And then I thought by the time we have kids and they are old enough to go the prices will have raised even more.
Yeeeuuuupppppp this is why we're waiting until they're 5 to go.
Because if we're paying that much they're sure as hell going to a) remember it and b) be able to actually enjoy and appreciate what they're seeing.
(Please note: not appreciate like "I know mom and dad spent a shitton," I hope they never get that, lol, more appreciate in their enjoyment and know it's a special fun awesome thing.)

shit Lol When we went to DW a few years ago we did 3 days and then headed to the beach for the rest of the week. I am pretty sure we will do the same on future trips. One week is too expensive.
I remember back in the day when a Disneyland adult ticket only cost $34 and the cheapest season pass was only $90
I lived near Disney for a time when I was 4 and I got to go on my birthday. And we would randomly, though not so often that it wasn't still special, go on weekends with my grandparents or whatever. Womp womp womp.

Yep, DW is crazy expensive. It's a fun family vaction, but just be aware that it is $$$.
My brother took my 2 nieces and his SO 5 years ago for a week and I was shocked when he told me he spent over 10K for the whole shebang. Once I realized the prices when we started planning to go, I figured that actually wasn't too outrageous considering the tickets and lodging and food and souvenirs and...and...and...

this is why we do the crazy florida resident pass deal that they have. this year we paid $140pp for a four day pass that could be used any time from january until june 7th (with about two weeks of blackout dates in march/april).
so we did four days over a few months for less than the cost of two single day admissions.
We will go for just the day since it is so close by. We just went a couple of weeks ago and only had to pay for one ticket since I knew someone who worked there who got the rest of us in for free. Taking our family of five to Disney would have cost us more than I would have been comfortable spending.

Holy crap. How long were they there? We took our 2 kids in Feb and it wasn't even half of that for a week. including flights, a moderate resort and meal plans. You do not have to spend that much to go to disney.
but yes, it is expensive. And I really thought it was already about 100 pp.

It was a week, but they were also coming from across the country (Pacific Northwest) so flights were pricey and included in the total cost.
