Totally normal. We had Edmund in a onesie and his pants rubbed it so it bled and then stuck to his onesie. We ha the nurses at children's, we were there for our team meet and greet with the baby, soaking his onesie so that it would release and wouldn't cause any damage.
Yeah we didn't need to use alcohol until after Marc's fell off, it was little oocky, but his stayed on a looong time.
I wouldn't rush it w alcohol just yet, but I do wish we'd used it sooner. I think Marc's was on a full 3 weeks. Maybe check w the pedi after a couple of weeks or something.
And just in case you haven't been told, it's also normal for newborn girls to have a tiny bit of blood in their diaper. Not a lot, not big drops or anything, but a little pinkish tinge is normal. I was told its caused by moms hormones. I only mention this because it happened to my daughter, and had I not been warned in advance I would have freaked.

No, but his fell off at 5 days. When we went to his 1 week appointment the doctor said she needed to cauterize it and brought out this matchstick looking thing. I legit thought she was going to light it and stick it in my kid's belly button. It turns out it was a silver nitrate stick and she just rubbed it in there.

Yes, a little bit for several days. Doc said it was normal. Also her belly button used to stick out a lot too esp when she cried. Doc said she had a very small hernia but that she expected it to heal itself. Sure enough by the time she was 6 months old her belly button looked completely normal.

This exactly! I had to dr google both the blood in diaper and umbilical cord bleeding bc I started to stress.
There's a lot of little blood vessels ending there so it's normal for them to bleed while healing. You only have a problem if it starts to get really red, bleeding steadily or pus drains out.
Now I get the bump boards. Babies make you second guess everything!
