It has been a month since my half and i gave myself a break. I was so over running. I have been doing some strength training and a great cardio dance class in the meantime.
I did a quick 2 miles yesterday to ease back in amd it felt great. Aiming to do about 10 miles a week for now.

That is what I want to do!!! I am going to take this week maybe to not do anything (total sloth) and then try to find some classes or do insanity with a colleague, but little to no running. I have a 4 mile race next weekend and a 5K the middle of July. Other than that, I want to focus on other exercise and activities.
Glad to hear your experience of breaking up with running for awhile went well--that is encouraging!
I am also REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY trying to do this, BUT its so hard Its my "me" time, and somethign i can do without a gym (since i have to get my run in at 4 am) I hate goign to the gym, and really dont want to spend the money to purchase a bike etc.......
Good for you!! I am sure it will give you a wonderful and fresh new start to your running!! I bet you feel energized, revived and strong!
I just happened to have taken a month of. It started with my dissertation defense. I was jet-lagged so badly (I flew in for my defense) and then days later I was just partying since I made it through. When I got home I was jet-lagged even worse. Then I got motivational issues. Blah blah blah. We're about 3.5 weeks further and yeah I have not ran. I feel bad.
I think it would have been harder if i didn't have a replacement workout already in mind. I like the challenge of training fpr something but running just gets boring to me after awhile. I just don't share then true true passion for it others do, and i like to try other things. I did a slow three miles on tues ahead of my dance class and it felt great. I am still having big toe pain since my half so i am easinh into this until i can get new shoes
