Just got off the phone with State Farm. I told them I wanted a new car seat. They said that was fine. I asked if I could get a convertible seat even though we had an infant seat in the car. They said yes, as long as it was around the same price point.
We have a Britax b-safe, which is retailing for $180 (I swear it was closer to $200 when we got it in October.) The convertible seat I want is the Safety 1st Advance 70 Air. It's retailing for $190. So it's $10 more expensive. Do you think they're going to cause a ruckus about $10? If it's that big of deal, they'll just give me the $180 and I'll be out $10, right? Tell me what you think.

Not a big deal at all.
When I was hit with dd we had a seat that was just over $100. I bought a new one that was $250 and figured we would get some of the money for it and in the end they paid the entire thing!
No, they said go buy the seat, and then fax a copy of the receipt to the claims officer, and then they will reimburse us.
Ok, so then get whatever you want and just eat the $10 if they are sticklers and don't reimburse you for anything more than the replacement value. Six of one half a dozen of the other, right?
oh yeah, I don't care about the $10. I just didn't want them to expect me to get something cheaper, then like, refuse to reimburse me for any of it or something. I am fine with paying the difference.
That's the same price point so most likely they'll just reimburse you with no issues. At worst they'll reimburse you 180 nd you'll eat the 10. They'll definitely cover the alum of your seat.

Gracias.
Lurker here but I have the safety 1st and I can't stand the buckle on it. Not sure if you tested it out yet or not.
They actually told me I had to send pictures of the current seat and model so they can make sure that I stayed in the same price point.
I just bought the graco myride 65. I don't care if it's huge, I have a big suv, so it's not a big deal.
I have the graco snugride 35 and like it! How you feeling?
I'm doing ok, my neck is feeling better, so I didn't go to the doctor. I talked to someone from the insurance company and they said I can go anytime this week, or in the future, until the claim is totally settled.
