Ok, I feel a little better then. She slept in the car a bit this morning, so she's not wanting to go to sleep. she's been in there about 40 minutes now, playing and singing and talking. and, um... meowing.

I agree, I let him mess around in there as long as he's not crying. He mostly plays and talks to himself. He practices most of his skills in there, before he's ready to do it in front of us.
Until they actually cry, and only if I could tell it wasn't just an "I'm tired and will soon fall asleep" cry. Why get them if they're content?
Yup, this. I'll let her cry for a few minutes if it's an "I'm about to fall asleep" cry, which is totally different than an angry "get me the eff out of this crib" cry. H can't tell the difference and will just leave her in there crying, which makes me ragey. If she's content before or after a nap I'll let her hang out in there for as long as she wants. She likes to play with her stuffed animals and hang out sometimes.
ninjabridemom they have their own rooms, but yeah, they still like napping in the same one. So when the little one wants to sleep and M doesn't, she knows it is still quiet time and will lie down and rest, or look at books or draw, or another quiet activity. Even though she is older, that girl still needs her naps most of the time and will eventually fall asleep anyway. Lol.
Keep it as a rest time routine and I don't think you will have to worry about it for the most part. There will be days once in awhile when they won't want to deal with resting, but they'll bounce back. With G and M being the same age, you might find that one will outgrow naps before the other and can still have quiet/nap time with one in the room, and the other understanding that it is still quiet time to rest, no high energy or noisy activities. So they know rest is still important.
