Hmm idk. I so think there are fruits that have less sugar than other fruits, might look to see what ones those are. I personally wouldn't worry about too much fruit, because I consider it better than a ton of other things.
Technically, yes, there is such a thing as too much fruit. One of the reasons for no juice is because it's all the sugar without any of the fiber. If he was eating only fruit, then that would probably be too much fruit. Plus, a lot of fiber-rich foods means he won't be hungry for other foods.
The American Heart Association recommends 1 cup of fruit a day for toddlers.
Fruit's fine nutritionally. The only "problem" with it is that if that's all he eats, it's digested quickly so he probably will get hungry again really quickly. If he eats it with some protein, or even some more complex carbs, then that's totally fine (which it sounds like he does). Juice has all the sugar but none of the fiber, and sometimes less vitamins.

I think it is fine as long as it is whole fruit. I feel like you can't be too picky with toddlers. You just feed them whatever they will eat and be glad they are eating. He could do a lot worse than fruit.
yeah, i let edie eat fruit if she doesn't want dinner with us. which is technically a 2nd dinner because she eats at IL's. but even on weekends if she doesn't want dinner, she can have fruit. sometimes she mixes her fruit in with whatever dinner is. strawberries and spaghetti. she loves that.
but really, more often than not, the fruit probably is better than the dinner, nutritionally.

If he eats a fairly balanced diet, I don't see a problem with a lot of fruit. M eats a TON of fruit. (He eats a ton in general, but that is another story).
We use our juicer at home usually once a week and I give him some of that after he finishes his breakfast, though, so I don't play by the rules. I usually try and include a vegetable in that - he loves beets!

Fruit is the only thing I know for sure Emerson will eat lately. I consider it an added bonus if I get her to take a bite of some sort of protein or vegetable. Pouches are the only way I can really get her to eat vegetables. I keep telling myself what tamb said.

J is also a huuuuge fan of beets. They're pretty sweet and are loaded with good stuff.

Christian eats a lot of fruit. Last night he cried for another banana and didn't want to finish his chicken/veggies/rice bake. He's big on blueberries and bananas.
I was wondering this same thing because sometimes it seems like fruit is all she eats. we were visiting my dad memorial day weekend and she was mowing on the fruit salad and he tried to get her to eat a hot dog and she kept pushing it away. My stepmom made some comment about how you have to give kids other foods besides fruits first or all they will want is fruit. I told her I would rather she likes fruit than hot dogs.
1 cup a DAY?! that's ludicrous. Matilda ate a whole orange while I was preparing dinner, as well as cheese and crackers. She wanted a banana too but I didnt allow it.
I assume she eats 3-4c fruit a day and I didnt really think she was eating tons of fruit.
This past weekend when it was really hot she seemed to eat barely anything except fruit, she would keep pointing at fruit and pushing other food away. She ate almost quarter of a watermelon at one point(a small one)

How do you prepare them? I haven't given her beets since the purée days. Although I had a helluva time with blue fingers tonight with blueberries so I don't know if I'd be looking forward to red.
And back to the matter at hand, it just never occurred to me that she could be eating too much fruit. I give her pretty much unlimited fruit and veggies. I feel like it's tons of vitamins right from the source. But I could be off base.

I either buy already roasted baby beets (they sell them at most stores here) or I roast them until they're soft. He eats them so quickly, his hands don't actually get too stained

Wow I feel like I deprive my baby now! He gets 2 servings a day which is 1-1.5 cups. Fruit is so sweet, I try to limit it. Now veggies he can have all he wants, we normally do 1 finger food and 1 pouch a day.
yeah I guess its never concerned me too much because fruit is a delicious and healthy snack, and so much better than other crappier options.
I am more concerned about the amount of "processed wheat product" she consumes. I'd much rather her eat a few slices of melon than a bunch of graham crackers or goldfish.
I give Calista as much fruit as she wants. Trying to get Lydia to eat anything is a battle so I will continue to feed Calista fruit so we do not have another food issue.
