How did your pregnancies vary? I had hyperemesis with William and I'm scared to be so sick again for 9 months plus have a toddler. Is there any hope I won't be as sick next pregnancy?
I think each pregnancy is different. That being said mine were almost identical except this time i am less swollen. Same symptons and shape and weight gain, etc.
Only sick from weeks 7-13 with Micah, the ENTIRE pregnancy with Eli, and on and off the whole pregnancy with Lexi. I lived on Zofran when I was pregnant with Eli. I didn't have to take it everyday with Lexi.
I have a friend who was barely sick her first pregnancy but had hyperemesis with her second. Every pregnancy is different.

This is good to know. I hope I got the pregnancy I was really sick with out of the way now!
I can only compare the first two trimesters, but for the first one, I had hardly any morning sickness, and got nauseous when I drank milk. For the second one, I could eat whatever I wanted, but had morning sickness almost daily for several weeks.
According to research, there is a smaller risk of hyperemesis in subsequent pregnancies, but there is conflicting research as to how low of a risk it is.

I hope so too! I had Micah and ran an in home daycare. I felt like shit 24/7! Only positive was that I didn't gain a ton of weight like I did with Micah.
Mine were pretty similar. I was very lucky and didn't have any morning sickness and felt pretty good for both. No real food cravings or food aversions for either. With Elliot I had more trouble sleeping/general discomfort at the end, but I blame that more on being 5 years older.
With Henry I ate whatever I wanted and didn't exercise once and gained 40 pounds. With Elliot I was careful with what I ate and worked out 5 days a week until the day before I delivered - and I gained 40 pounds. Sigh.
Pregnancies were very similar. I couldn't stand the smell of bacon and hated veggies with Kalvin. I couldn't stand meat with Katelyn and ate all the veggies I wanted. She's a carnivore and he won't eat meat but only eats carrots.
J: gained 35 lbs, was in a LOT of pain at the end, horrendous heart burn in the third tri, general nausea all pregnancy
A: gained 15 lbs, not as much pain, low level heart burn the entire time, worse nausea all pregnancy, huge meat cravings and a huge aversion to sweets the entire time
they are so close in age though, so I think some of my stuff was just due to not having replenished my own body enough before getting KUed again. I'm 15 lbs under what I started with both times and have drastically changed my diet so it will be interesting to see if that effects next pregnancy any.
With L I had no morning sickness, my only food aversions were to some veggies, massive weight gain, and minimal swelling (I wore stiletto heels until the day before my induction).
With A I had morning sickness in the 1st tri, many food aversions, I only gained about 20 pounds, and my feet starting to swell at about 16 weeks, heartburn, and some constipation.
Mine were pretty much the same. I think Sadie may have been easier, since I worked 9 hour retail shifts when I was pg with Holden and I was a SAHM the second time.
I had worse morning sickness with Sadie, and she stuck around in my belly for an extra two weeks. That's pretty much it.

I think there's hope. You never know what you're going to get.
With my first, I was so sick, couldn't keep anything down and had to be put on the IV a couple of times. I also developed a dilated kidney at 17w and had to be hospitalized. I stayed sick most of the pregnancy. I gained 60lbs!!! It was crazy.
With the second, I was so sick until about half way through the second trimester. I couldn't stand the smell of my living room or garage. I basically lived in the bedroom. I'm not sure how Abby survived those few months ( she was 4 at the time), but she did. After the morning sickness ended, I felt amazing!! I enjoyed my pregnancy. I only gained 18lbs. during this pregnancy and had no issues.

Oh man. I didnt exercise either with Cam and gained 40. I want to stay healthier and exercise with the 2nd and was hoping I wouldnt gain near as much. Darn you for telling me that!! haha
Mine were very similar, weight gain was the same, swelling was the same, my belly got bigger the second time and I threw up a couple times the second time. Even my labor and delivery were almost exactly the same.

With B, I was only sick from about 6 weeks to 13 weeks and only threw up a few times. I had a few aversions, some sciatic nerve pain, bad swelling (overdue in July), long labor that ended up in a c/s due to fetal distress.
With P, I was really sick from before I got a positive test and it lasted the entire pregnancy along with the heartburn. I was on zofran and zantac daily. The sciatic nerve pain started much earlier (but would improve for awhile after every chiropractic visit), migraines came back with a vengeance, and I had a ton of pelvic pain. I had a lot of early labor and was hopeful for my VBAC, but ended up with a repeat c/s after 40 weeks because I was getting pre-e.

I am super nervous about this as well. I plan to use accupuncture next time but have already discussed with my midwife and she said just call in, even if it's not my first appt yet. My mom got sicker with each pregnancy with her hyperemesis. I think there's research both ways on that

*a lot more throwing up round 2 *same weight gain with both *overall felt better the second time but I had a 3 year old distraction *went into labor at 39 weeks 2 days the first time, water broke at 37 weeks 5 days the second time *had gross bloody boogers with both *very constipated first time, not so much the second time *felt movement later with number 2 due to anterior placenta
Mine were very much the same. I was nauseous until 10 weeks with both. The last trimester was harder with DS2 because I was more tired (and 3 years older!) but his birth was super fast so I forgive him Gained the same amount too, 15 or 18lbs I think. I watched what I ate (VAIN!!) but I was glad I didn't gain more because I had terrible sciatic pain towards the end and wanted to die.
Thank you all. It sounds like it could go either way. I told dh that if I'm this sick again that we'll have to hire someone to help me during the day some, there would me just no way to do that on my own.
