Ok, well, DS wasn't ever a spectacular eater in the first place... but it seems that he's gotten even more picky with these stupid molars coming in. I had been sticking with purees for his veggies as I wasn't having much success with veggies in the non-pureed form. But now, I feel like I'm having to resort to purees as it seems to be one of the only things I can get him to actually eat some days. To top it off, DC made me feel like a bad mom as they told DH when he picked DS up "Might need to send more of a variety of foods as I think W is getting bored with what you're sending." So I kind of panicked and started trying a bunch of different stuff, but DS just keeps going back to the same stand-bys.
Right now, our standbys are: yogurt, cottage cheese, grapes, toast and the pouches of fruits/veggie that have the twist off tops. Somedays he'll like: bananas, kiwi, pineapple, pears, peaches, ravioli, potatoes, muffins, progresso-type soups. I have tried with no luck: pancakes, quesadillas, black beans, asparagus, broccoli, cauliflauer.
Anyone have any tricks to get picky eaters to eat more? Or do I just keep trying different stuff?
Sadly, yours eats more than mine. I just keep offering and she keeps refusing. For some reason I've found she'll eat some kidney beans, but won't touch (literally) black beans. She won't eat a banana cut up, but she'll eat some bites off of a whole banana. Won't touch her waffle in pieces, but will nibble off of a whole one. Have you tried different sizes/forms? If I can get her to actually pick some food up and feed it to me she'll sometimes take a bite herself. She thinks DS feeding her is hilarious, so that sometimes works. Her stuffed animals will "feed" her sometimes which she thinks is awesome and sometimes works. Anyhow, if we make it a HUGE ordeal and all feed each other and clap and cheer she'll sometimes try something new and decide she likes it.
Carter's also picky about size/form. Cut up mango or watermelon? No way. Whole mango or watermelon slice? Bring it on! Tiny bits of beef? Hell no. Whole burger patty? Yum.
