I just need to AW my awesome life right now:
This is what my ankle looked like an hour after I broke it (didn't know it was broken when I took this and posted it on ML lol):
This is one of the X-rays of my ankle:
And this is what my cast looks like right now:
Surgery sometime next week. When they took off my cloth "cast" to put me in a fiberglass one, I saw my ankle and gasped. It was BLACK all the way down my foot. Ewwww. Wish I got a pic of that! haha
I don't need anymore poor poodles (you ladies have been so sweet), but if anyone wants to give me their medical opinion on my xray, that'd be cool.
It looks good, Study. For realz. That's a nice easy break. You're gonna do great. Wait until you see how much leg hair you can grow under that cast! For pain control, I like a bag of peas on top of my knee, not on the back of the knee. If you have any questions, let me know!

Yesssss! That's what I like to hear, especially coming from you! The surgeon tried to shift the bones using the sheer force of his hands. That wasn't fun. Anyway, it worked a little bit, but not completely, so surgery it is. I cried when he said I for sure needed the surgery. lol
I didnt poor poodle yet and I meant to on your first post. That sucks and I'm sorry .
My foot turned completely black one of the times I broke a toe. Softball game in college, person much bigger than me got me just at te right angle when she was coming in to 2nd and I was catching the ball to get her out.
We went to the pub that night and I thought I was fine, just sore. I got up to go to the bathroom and could barely walk. (I was like, wtf? Am I drunk?). Got home, took shoe and sock off to find my foot completely black and purple, esp on the bottom. What a freakin shock. I'm sure yours was even more so as some of mine was hidden from my sight, under my foot.
I'm so sorry about your ankle and your fall. I think injuries from simple tasks are the worse because you kick yourself for split second decisions. .
Swelling I get. This was surgery #1. This is the outside of my ankle
This was surgery #7 on the inside of my ankle
I let my surgeon break my tibia with a saw the same way you broke your fibula. He needed to get behind my tibia to fix some shit and that was the only way in. I only needed two screws to hold it together though, no plate.

You are fucking badass. I broke into tears when the surgeon looked at the third set of xrays and said "I don't like that...". I was really hoping I could avoid surgery.
I will definitely let you know if I have any questions leading up to/after the surgery. You are so thoughtful.
Oh please, I cried when I found out about surgeries 1,4 and 6. I threw up when I found out about 7. I only did it because I didn't have any choice. But I did learn a lot going through it so many times and if I can help make your recovery a little bit more comfortable, I'd be happy to.
