Ours is more around 6-7 or whenever I get him to bed. I like to keep him up for a bit when I get home and eat as a family so he is usually a real peach during dinner time.
If you mean when I pick her up at 5:00 from daycare and she starts screaming throwing herself around and reaching/ crawling/ clinging to the day care lady then yes, 5:09 is still cranky hour.

We dont really have cranky hour anymore. Sometimes when she is really tired, maybe around 6ish?
Our evening routine doenst really give her time to get cranky though. I pick her up from daycare at 4:15pm. We play from 4:30-5ish. She is usually eating dinner from 5ish-5:30.
Then DH and I play with her from 5:30-6:15ish. Bath is from 6:15-6:30 and then she goes straight into her jammies and into bed.
She used to have meltdowns in the winter/fall when we were stuck inside and it would get dark out early, but now that we can go outside... she is pretty chill.
Evan is usually most cranky around 4 when he can see and smell me cooking dinner. Once he is eating, he is happy until bedtime- usually his happiest time

He does this too, but the daycare lady is yiayia(my mom).
He is starting daycare in September though, and im nervous, but also think it will be good for him.
We are going through a wonderful phase with her where she is mostly enjoyable. Still though, if I take too long with the whole evening/dinner thing she does melt down. It seems that back on 2 naps/day she was much more chill about bedtime being whenever. now she starts crying, handing me pjs, going to her boob chair and pointing etc.
A new thing we are having is when I go to pick her up from daycare she barely seems to register my presence! She used to gleefully run right over as soon as I arrive, now she's like... meh.
M does this with me occasionally when I pick him up from daycare. He is good once we sit down to eat at 6. It is usually on Mondays. I read somewhere that they can just be so relieved that they are with you after a long day, they just let go and crank it out. Or maybe I made that up so I feel better, lol

I really like this explanation. So even when he is reaching for my mom, i know he really wants me! lol

Lydia did it too, there is a transition time that they need to go from one to the other. At least that is what I tell myself, and I read that somewhere too that all their emotions come out once they see their mama, at least that is what I make myself believe so I don't think she loves the day care lady more than me.
