I am proposing a couple of dates for a pool party in July. If everyone would like, we could BBQ (ribs, burgers, chicken, veggie burgers) and I am happy to make sides, desserts, etc. Please vote. Thanks

I have no idea what July holds. I can't get past the fact that school goes until June 28th. I know I we have several bday parties in July but I will try my damnedest to make it!
20th or 21st work for me! I'll be very much looking forward to it.
The weekend of the 14th I will be enduringthoroughly enjoying a bridal shower for a wedding I probably won't even be invited to.
Why the hell do people think its okay to invite people to showers that aren't invited to the wedding, gift grabby much? You had it right the first time when you wrote enduring!
Confession ..... As you all know I had a fairly small Destination wedding. Well my mom invited friends of hers (that were not invited to the wedding) to my shower. At first I was a bit unsure about it, but it was actually nice as they are friends of hers that I've know for most of my life so my mom had fun celebrating with them. :/

I agree that is a different situation. I had a destination wedding, but it was a larger one so this didnt become an issue, but many many of the girls on the destination wedding board on TK did this and I think it's different. But a big wedding here with a huge shower of people you didn't invite=side eye from preppy.

Agreed
Yeah, this isn't a remotely similar scenario. Here's the deal. The bride has a Very Important job in a neighboring state government and feels that she needs to invite all the higher ups to wine and dine and impress them, but neither the couple nor either set of parents have the cash to back this up. Her solution is to have the wedding in a small church (~100 people) and pay for that small group (mostly her work "friends" and close relatives) to have a fabulous hotel banquet meal. Then another 100-200 people are invited to come dance and bring her presents after dinner. She believes herself a total genius for thinking this up and wonders why more couples don't do their weddings like this.
So I'll be invited, I'm just not holding my breath that it will be for anything other than dancing and a cash bar.

Wow that is awful! A whole new definition of "B list." I can't wait to hear you report back about this wedding.
