In Canada, is stress leave the same as sick leave? If not, in Canada, are you allowed to go on stress leave before going on mat. leave like you can do with sick leave?
Thanks everyone, I put my whine's away for the night, since they have a lot of details I thought I should probably remove it.
I didn't read it all, but I took 14 weeks of sick leave before my mat leave started. As long as a doc agrees, it doesn't seem to be an issue.
What was your reasoning for being sick? If you don't mind!
I was put on bedrest. My OB was going to pull me from work at 30 weeks regardless as I had a high risk pregnancy. If your doc thinks there is a risk, it's usually not a problem. Stress can = high blood pressure, so there can be a very physical reason to be off work besides stress.

She's not sick though, just unhappy at work.
Pugs - I'm not all that familiar with how it works in Canada. You get a year of maternity leave but you don't have to go back to the job? So you will look for a different job during your leave?
Do you have sick leave accrued? I have NO idea what stress leave is but I'm pretty sure everybody would be taking it if it existed here, lol. We have FMLA but you have to qualify in some medical or mental health way for yourself or as a caregiver. My co-worker was stressed and tried to use FMLA but was denied.
I don't know, I think you need to suck it up until August.
No, we don't have to go back to that job after mat leave but my normal job is within the same company but at an entirely different site and is working with youth.
I have 2 weeks sick leave (we get 15 days a year) and we can't carry over more than 5 making 15 the max). Our mat leave is paid by the government, not the company.

In my case stress seems to be causing LOW BLOOD PRESSURE, lol, what the hell?

Talk to your doctor about it. If they believe its an issue, you'll likely be fine. Being off work that long before a baby sucks. I just about died of boredom.

Thanks, I see her tomorrow so I will for sure. I am afraid of dying of boredom, and I really wanted to stick it out because there is AC at work, but I am just beyond fustrated. I hope it will pass. It doesn't help that I haven't had more than 1 day of vacation here and there in a year. Come on June 28th!!! I am just being a baby, I know. But it gets to you after awhile. This is also the first time I have been stressed at work, ever. So it's all new to me.

That's tough. From my experience there aren't a lot of anxiety meds (Ativan) that are safe to take either. I know with my work we've taken people off work due to stress. Good luck tomorrow!
