We just got a MASSIVE play structure for free from a friend's family who was getting rid of it. Like crazy cool, big.
She mentioned just using dish soap on the vinyl awnings that top the towers. Can I use anything more than that? There's a lot of lichen and tree fuzz on one side. I might just try w/ dish soap first, but I don't want to do the job twice if Ic an use something more in it. Bleach?
And do you seal your wood? This is painted with a protective enamel from the original manufacturer. They said they just power washed yearly. It's about 12 years old, so I don't know if it needs something to keep it good. It's in very nice shape, but is starting to look a little worn. (and I figure maybe it'll be easier to treat before we reassemble in our yard.
I've browsed a bit, looking to see if there are manufacturer suggestions, but I haven't come across them yet.
I think it depends on the type of wood they use as to whether you need to reseal it or simply power wash it yearly. Can you google the manufacturer to get some information on the wood? Or do you know what kind of wood it is?
And on the vinyl top, I think dish soap is what you're supposed to use. I'll let you know in about 10 years when I realize I never washed the cover, ever. Heh.
When I googled, I did see a little about sealing the wood maybe. I wasn't sure if it was just a ploy to sell wood sealer. Lol.
The awning though, that's the one I KNOW I need to do. I prob should just stick to dish soap first. I'm just so LAZZZZZY this year and if I do it once, I don't want to do it a 2nd time if it didn't work the first time. seriously. that's lazy. I'll spend typing and googling rather than doing the actual work?

Seriously is. It's kind of ridiculously big for our yard, but we couldn't turn it down, it's too cool. They had their original documents and receipts - they paid $2,500 for it back in 2001. It even has a cool hammock swing called the "parent swing."
