I recently increased my walk/run to 4 miles a day and now I'm finding that I'm really tired in the afternoons. When 2:45-3:00 rolls around, I could fall asleep.
Right now I go to bed around 11 pm and I wake up at 6:15. I work until 4:30 and work out immediately after work.
It totally does. A lot of people say it gives them more energy but I found that's only temporary, for like an hour or two after the workout. Then that night I'm just spent.
I also work out right after work and I have found going to bed earlier really helps with my energy throughout the day. I am usually asleep by 10:15 and I don't wake up until 7.
I also think having a morning and afternoon snack help my energy levels.
I am not a morning workout person. Since I had 2-3 dance classes every school night from age 13-20 I can't get into the morning exercise. It makes me so sleepy! Unfortunately, my walking group likes mornings so I do suck it up twice a week.

Haha. I am the opposite. I had morning swim practice every day growing up, so now I can only work out in the mornings.
I am tired when my alarm goes off at that ungodly hour, but I have enough energy during the day, I think. But I am lame & have a "lights-out at 10pm" policy.
I hate to say it, b/c I know it's hard to have a life, feel like you had enough time for the rest of life, but maybe you do need a 10pm bedtime.
Also, maybe a protein snack around 2pm could help. (you're welcome for covering that, suesue )
Apple slices w/ peanut butter, greek yogurt, something to boost you up again? Just a thought. When I was workign out more, I found I needed that. Also, a ton more water then, too. Perhaps a brisk walk in the office - like time to deliver papers to other people or go to the photocopier or mailbox, etc etc around then?
