I'd love to see what other people have found on CL. PIP and tell us all about it (price, anything interesting about it). I feel like I should be stalking CL more often. Give me some motivation! If you don't have CL, PIP your best second-hand find anywhere (Goodwill, Freecycle, antique store, etc.).
Mine's just a repeat from my bio, but it's our Wedgewood stove:
I can't remember exactly, but I think we got it for $400 after she asked $700. But then we paid several hundred to have it all cleaned up by a guy out in the Central Valley (not to mention the few hundred it cost to have a solid iron stove carted all over California; our sedan just wasn't up for the job LOL). But I love it!! It heats so evenly and the oven is smaller than a standard, so it heats up pretty fast. The top of the range part can also be taken completely apart and taken outside for hosing off and cleaning. The only thing I miss is the timer on my old one. I could put my TJ's frozen croissants in the night before and set it to bake them before I got up, then breakfast was hot and ready when my alarm went off. That was awesome, and I do miss it. But I don't need to eat that many croissants anyway
Doesn't have to be big; post a flower vase if that's what you've found!
Thanks, and that Hoosier is nice-great redo! Most of the ones around here have uppers with the little flour sifter thing in them. And most of them are also in terrible shape. It looks like such a huge project to take on. Plus I don't have any space for one in my kitchen, espeically the tall ones; but I'd love to have one.

You know, the thing I have off CL that I like the most is the headboard I painted for our master bedroom two years ago. I love the shape of it and it's really interesting.
It's this one:
I'm debating repainting it a light pearl gray now that the room is purple, but I love that turquoise color so much, it's going to be hard to pull myself to do it.
Ha, funny CL story, since you mentioned being close. Our elderly neighbor has seen us selling furniture to CL buyers and asked us if we knew anyone who wanted some IKEA bookshelves. I guess he just thought we personally know a bunch of people who need furniture. We told him to use CL, and the neighbor said "I don't want to mail them somewhere" (I guess he thought it was like eBay?). We explained it and DH went over there to help him post them, and the neighbor insisted on posting them for $5. Someone was at his house from down the street within 10 mins. The neighbor thought he totally scored. It was cute.
I haven't bought a lot on CL, but here a couple finds:
The bed frame for our master BR ($100):
It has a scuff on the footboard that you can't really see, and it's not amazing quality, but it has allowed me to totally backburner buying the perfect bed frame. We've had it for about 2.5 years now, so I'd say it's already worth it.
A pair of end tables that now look like this ($30 for the pair):
There was some elbow grease involved. When I bought them, they looked like this:
Total cost of the project:
2 end tables listed on Craig’s List – $30 2 antique nickel pulls – $8 1 half pint stain – $5 1 half pint polyurethane – $5 1 quart primer (to be shared with other projects) – $15 1 quart black paint (to be shared with other projects) – $15 sandpaper – about $8 worth
So we’re looking at a total cost, excluding hours of my time, of about $86 for these tables, or $43 each.
Not from Craig's List and probably not my best find (I'm a big thrift store shopper), but I just bought two industrial stools similar to the ones in the article below from a FB yard sale site for $30. I love them!!

My parents bought a Hoosier in perfect shape at an auction for $250. It is totally original with sifter and all. There is some wear but it's mostly around the knobs from people opening the drawers and just basic use. It's the good wear. It eventually will be mine when we get a bigger kitchen.
FormerlyRR those beds are just gorgeous! I either suck at searching CL (which I fully admit I'm too impatient to do properly), or the people here don't post such great things for a reasonable price.
i think i've posted this before, but we got this antique, solid mahagony Drexel dresser for free via our local online classifieds. we've gotten a few other things, but this is definitely the best fine.
pretty much everything in our house right now is second hand - either yard sale, thrift store, or our local classifieds. i some i looove, some i'm so ready to replace.
That's beautiful heygrey! I cannot believe someone gave that away. I'm almost certain our guestroom dresser is exactly the same line. Down to the exact same pulls. DH's father gave it to us; I think it was DH's grandfather's. And I love the milkglass.
Great price on those stools sailor! ETA: PIP the Hoosier when you get it. Love those things and I love to see them in good shape

This is my problem. I can't bring myself to wade through the crap, and there is a lot of it. OTOH, I'm having pretty good luck selling my baby stuff and I am going to try selling non-baby stuff because I'm thrilled to be getting stuff out of my house.
I love CL and have gotten a lot of pieces over the years. Probably my best find was this mirror, which is huge and was free. I also got our Paula Deen table and chairs for a steal. The mirror was bright blue but was easy to spray black.
I'm not home so can't post pics but we got a cherry bookcase, about 6' tall. $50. Couple was moving right then, didn't have room on moving van and needed it sold in 30 minutes. They were about 5-10 minutes from our house. H drove up and bought it.
I got about $500 or so in art for $35. Woman posted she was changing her house from nautical theme to something else. She had 3 large and 3 or 4 medium pictures and wanted $50. She stated who the artist was on the 3 medium pictures and it is an artist H and I like and I have a collection of his stuff. I offered her $35 and she jumped on it. The 3 large are by some random person but they also work in our house, the 3 mediums were prints by this artist but none were anything that I already have.
I think I'll go play on our local CL and see what's out there.
@juno do you know the age of it? I never realized you had it working. Awesome!!
LOL, I live in 950 sq. ft. I do not have room for a 1-ton paperweight! The guy we went to does a brisk business on refurbs, so it wasn't too much trouble to get it all insulated and cleaned up and working. Ranges from the 50s/60s back are very popular out here. Not sure on the age. Probably 30s or 40s. The guy who rebuilt it for us said he'd once seen an old ad for them that suggested putting the dog bed under the oven as a warm place for Fido. I really wish I could find a copy of that ad and frame it. I think there are some vintage ad sites out there; I should do some searching, but I'm so lazy about this stuff. Thus, this post.

We've gotten some great things, but these are the best:
West Elm buffet for $250. (Ignore the crap on top and around it.)
This Michael Weiss by Vanguard DR set. 8 chairs, table with 2 leaves, custom pads and china cabinet for $1800. (Retail is $$$$$ and it was in perfect condition.)
Maybe this is my favorite CL. I got this entertainment center which I painted and use for my clothes. The dresser in the center was also from CL years ago (it was my first refinishing job). It fits together perfectly in our bedroom. I know a lot of people don't like TV in the bedroom, but we new we were going to have it so I would rather embrace it than try to hide it in the corner.
not sure if it was showing up in the last post. the entertainment towers were $60; the dresser was free. I figured I'd practice refinishing on it and paint it white if it didn't turn out.
That's an awesome repurposing @pitterwoo. I'm not good at using furniture for things outside their intended purposes. I have trouble thinking outside the box. Also that finish job looks lovely. We have a talented bunch of women here!
