My fun philly weekend will involve: Dinner tonight at Bibou, which is one of the best BYOB restaurants in town Possibly hiking or kayaking tomorrow with my friend (weather dependent) Then outdoor grilling and hanging out on her roof deck (it is supposed to clear up by then) Sunday we are going to a concert Then I come back on Monday
I am leaving work a little early and heading to RI for my moms retirement party. We will stay all weekend and my sisters and nephews will be in town. Originally we planned on beaching it Saturday but I think we will end up in Watch Hill or something.

I hope everyone has fun at the GTG tonight! And scm, I hope things blow over quickly at work for you. I hate that feeling.
Tonight, I will be collapsing on the couch the second I walk in the door. Tomorrow, I have to pick up the faculty chair and be at work by 6:15 am, to make sure a)the food is there and b)they're able to get it into the common room before it floats away. Bus leaves at 7ish, and we'll be stuck on Thompson Island all day. I'm hoping it at least clears up a bit by the afternoon, because if I am stuck in that humid, smelly gym all day, I may go crazy. We get back to the apartments at 5:30 and then have a bbq, but I'm hoping to get out of there by 6. Worst case scenario, I should be showered and enjoying a glass (ok, bottle) of wine by 7 pm.
Sunday, I was going to drive to western MA to see my grandfather, who had not-emergency-but-definitely-not-planned surgery the other day. I talked to him this morning, though, and he sounds ok, so I am going to be the bad granddaughter and put it off until next weekend. I am so exhausted already, and tomorrow is going to be the longest day ever. I am hoping that I can get off the couch long enough to go see Before Midnight in the afternoon, because I'm never going to get there otherwise. But I'll mostly be couching-it.
I curled my hair this morning (well right now, so I guess this afternoon) in preparation for tonight. We will see how it looks in 7 hours!
Tomorrow I am finally buying my child a crib and dresser. Probably a trip to Costco, maybe Ikea to get these spice racks that you can allegedly use for book shelves on nursery walls. We are also in the process of picking out a backsplash for the kitchen. We got several samples yesterday, so I think we will make a decision and order them tomorrow.
scm1011 Whatever happened with the other job prospect?
Still in process. Said University sure likes to drag things out. I've had two 30-40 minute phone interviews, countless emails back and forth, and was actually given some reading assignments to bring me up to date on what exactly the job entails. I checked in with the department head this morning and she said the position has not been filled, they've just been crazy busy and they'll call me next week. Super frustrating.
Annoying!!! Glad to hear that it is still a possibility though. Any other leads?

I don't know which University you're dealing with, but in my experience with a few different ones, these things take foreverrrrrrrr. Like, months. From the time I applied for an internal promotion to the time I was actually offered it? Two+ months. And I already worked here! So them dragging their feet is not necessarily a sign of disinterest in you as a candidate. And don't forget, there have been graduations and alumni weekends going on over the past few weeks as well. That just impedes the process, no matter the department.
I have friends that work there who have said the same thing, but man, its frustrating.
In that case, yeah. We're pretty much the worst; there are like 47 different layers of bureaucracy you have to cut through before you can even post a damn job, never mind hire for it.

@rock-n-Voll - Absolutely ... I can take @angryharpy and anyone else who needs a ride in my general direction. If you're thinking about not driving because of the rain, I can drive you, too.
I just bought 3 50ml bottles of Maker's Mark for my flight because I don't want to pay for overpriced airplane cocktails. I am also willing to take the train if I am just pointed in the right direction. I'm easy. YAY!
Downside: I HAVE to finish one project, and I CANNOT concentrate.
Oh noes! My flight is delayed. By TWO HOURS! But the email notification says I still have to be there for my original scheduled departure time. I guess it's good that my quart-sized zip-top bag will be full of booze?
