Everyone is saying how easy it is to clean. I must be doing something wrong because our couch looks terrible. The cushion covers are easy enough, I wash them in the washer but the couch itself has water stains on it and smells like dog. We were actually planning to buy a leather couch in the next few months.
I think not all microfiber is the same. The chairs I have in the LR are a thinner microfiber and basically behave like regular fabric, except they have the messy look of microfiber. I have to regularly scrub them with a wet cloth and have them cleaned and treated once a year.
On the other hand, my microfiber glider has seen it all. Puke, poop, breastmilk, etc. It still looks exactly like it did the day I bought it and I never had to do anything other than wipe it down.
That does look good! The problem is that our little dog likes to lick his feet on the armrest part. Then another time the neighbor kid came over after swimming and left a giant water stain on the back of the couch where her head was. Stuff like that. I can't seem to fix it.

I agree, our microfiber has all kinds of water stains and I think looks like crap. And the dog hair doesn't ever vacuum up completely, there's always some stuck to it no matter how many times I go over it.
This weekend I am actually going to do the rubbing alcohal cleaning trick because the arms of our chair has gotten NASTY this past year. Mostly because that is where Jack eats his snacks.
I have done it before and it looks great afterwards.
Our old microfiber couch didn't have anything you could remove and wash. We wiped it off with a damp cloth every so often and it looked okay. When we replaced it, we got some other kind of fabric because for some reason H was always getting shocked after getting off the microfiber couch. It was really weird. That man is like a magnet for static electricity.
If you have dogs, be aware that their nails can scratch the shit out of the leather. We have a couple Ekornes Stressless chairs and they are all scratched up from the dogs. $1300 each, it's pretty upsetting.
We have leather for this very reason. So easy to clean and lasts a long time. No issues with scratches from my 2 dogs. Our old couch was 12 years old and never had issues with any of our dogs either.
