omg. it's like every guy i dated in high school is coming back to haunt me. they typically preferred the blue ones. i'm from nova. a LOT of soccer and lacrosse players. ew.*
*ew to the guys that i dated. not to soccer and lacrosse players as a whole. although there is a high percentage chance of douchiness. anyway. the sandals are ugly regardless. always have been, always will be.

Same here.....brings back memories of this guy I dated in HS. Erick, he played soccer and wore those ugly things. I remember he also wore Sambas....another ugly shoe.
I teach at a middle school and so many kids wear these - I didn't realize it was the new fashion trend. Killercupcake - I definitely had those shoes in a couple colours. :-)

I never played soccer, but I HAD TO HAVE THESE in 1994. All the cool kids had them. And Umbro shorts.
I played softball in high school/college, and a lot of girls wore them because (like killercupcake said) you could just take off the cleats and leave your socks on.
I never thought they were comfortable because of those little ridges on the bottom ... I had a Nike pair without the ridges and I liked them for softball. My brother and sister *loved* them for just walking around, and my brother would go through two or three pairs each summer.
I always wanted the Sambas or the Adidas because I thought the stripes looked good. I just never got around to buying them. I bought myself a pair of Pumas and I thought I was the shit, lol.
