I did a few more interior trim paint touch ups and painted the front of our gate. I had to stop because it started raining.
Last night I cleared out the massive plant collection that H had to bring home from work when his office moved (it's ridiculous and I call it "the jungle" but H won't get rid of them). The floor and planters haven't been properly cleaned in ages so I scrubbed and vacuumed everything. I also trimmed a lot of the vines from a few of the plants. They were so long that they were knotted up and couldn't be untangled without ripping them apart.
If H went away for business more often, our house would be in spectacular shape, LOL.
Finished painting the garage door this afternoon. Now I am heading out to plant some strawberry plants. yum! If I have time then I will fix some landscape border that's coming out of the ground. I don't know how to get to to stay down. anyone?
Does moving stuff from one storage unit to another count? Due to some flooding earlier this week, we had to get our stuff out of there. It was starting to smell midewy (the wall, not our stuff). Our stuff was all dry, except for the moving blanket that the movers left on the treadclimber...the part that was hanging under it was the only part that was wet. The new building is much cooler and our unit is away from exterior walls, ac ducting and hopefully anything else that might leak.
There was a nice appliance store was right across the street from the storage units, so we stopped in and wound up with the information on a panel ready refrigerator, double oven (micro/convection and regular, and a gas cooktop. We will order the refrigerator as soon as our house in CA closes, but might wait on the others until we are actually working on the kitchen remodel. I love this store. It doesn't seem to matter what you order from them...they can get it to you in less than a week, (except for the GE line that had a production issue and won't be available for months, but they are offering their clients affected upgraded appliances for no extra cost). They don't even have you put down a deposit.
We stopped in at a kitchen and bathroom design showroom (they actually fabricate the cabinets), and made an appt for a consultation on Thursday morning.
In the same building as the kitchen design place there are two stores that we want to order furniture from. We put down a deposit on a sofa *gulp*, and chose the fabric for that and a chair (from the other store) that is next on our list of furniture to order.
We were supposed to go to ikea, to exchange a bathroom vanity that has a damaged piece, but I was too tired by then (I had woken up with a headache and have been a little out of it today). We stopped in at a popular specialty market down the road from our house that we had been meaning to go to and tasted cheeses, fresh breads and other stuff (you could even have beer on tap), and we bought something for dinner tonight and came home.
There is an estate sale a couple of doors down that I may go to if it is still going on tomorrow, and we will go to ikea tomorrow for sure.
I hired my son and one of his friends to be my mulch monkeys. They did the front, side and back beds- 6 yds total. It looks better but not as good as when I hire a pro.
Tomorrow I move perennials and maybe even plant a few things. I need a Del Val azalea for my back azalea bed and an accent tree/shrubs for my front bed.
Finally got H off his ass and to lumber liquidators. We have new flooring finally. My brother that is a GC is coming to help install on Monday. So I will be ripping out carpet tomorrow.
Evaluating paint swatches up on the wall and trying to make a final decision.
Waiting for our new fridge to be delivered.
How long do you look at paint swatches? We have had the hardest time choosing a color for our living room. We were rushed into making a decision the first time, and yesterday I couldn't see past the original color to look at the swatches. I kind of just picked one and crossed my fingers. We need to do one more coat today and I hope I like how it turns out, because I don't think H is going to let me paint that room again.
We put up four swatches last week - three colors, and then each color at 50% concentration.
We added three more colors this past week, plus a swatch of one of the colors at 50% concentration.
We probably stared at all eight swatches for most of the two hours we were waiting for our fridge last night - lol! The good part of this was that we had time to see how the colors changed as the lighting changed during the late afternoon into the evening. The bad part was that we started to overthink it. We finally decided on our colors though.
DH and I tried to finish up our landscaping, but alas. We were one bag of rocks too short. So the front landscaping along out entry path is really nice and pretty until you're right up to the front door where it is missing about two square feet of rock. Sigh. But I did spray paint my tired, faded wicker chairs a glossy black yesterday. They're so much nicer now!
We put down new mulch and cleaned up the backyard. It looks so nice now! I'm hoping this summer we actually spend some time out there. We also organized the garage.
